    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Penn College is recruiting Police Officers who are responsible for performing all phases of police work including protection of life and property, preservation of peace and order of the College community, enforcement of laws, public safety, investigative work and other related duties. <strong><em>This position requires confirmation of Act 120 Certification</em></strong>, <strong>current CPR/First Aid Certification, and valid driver's license. </strong>The Penn College Police Department responds to calls for service, investigates crimes and patrols on and off-campus as well as works closely with neighboring law enforcement including local, state, and federal agencies. Additionally, the department has the opportunity to participate in the Little League World Series, and Lycoming County DUI enforcement events. Shifts vary due to staffing needs and College schedule. Requires working outdoors on patrol, sometimes in adverse weather conditions. Overtime will be required as staffing needs dictate. Contributions are also made to Social Security.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>EDUCATION</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Current Act 120 Training. Required</li>\n <li>Twelve (12) credits of college-level coursework, OR, in lieu of education, experience as a police officer. Preferred</li>\n <li>Associate's Degree. Preferred</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Valid and in State Valid Driver's License. Required</li>\n <li>Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED. Required</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>EXPERIENCE</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Pennsylvania law enforcement experience. Preferred</li>\n <li>Knowledge of or direct experience working with individuals of diverse cultures, a variety of backgrounds, and those dealing with issues related to sexual misconduct. Preferred</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>ABILITIES AND SKILLS</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to cope with unusual situations. Required</li>\n <li>Possession of a valid driver's license. Required</li>\n <li>Effective oral and written communications skills. Required</li>\n <li>Must be certified in First Aid and CPR/AED. Required</li>\n <li>Willingness and ability to maintain Act120 Certification and firearms/Taser/Baton/Pepper gas re-certification through annual update process. Required</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Prevent illegal, unsafe and undesirable activity and regulatory violations through patrol, education, inspection and the deterrent effect of enforcement.</li>\n <li>Enforce the state and local laws, and appropriate College regulations through investigation, apprehension and prosecution of violators.</li>\n <li>Investigate reported crime, accidents, and incidents; submit completed reports of investigation to the Chief.</li>\n <li>Perform as an investigator in plainclothes as directed.</li>\n <li>Perform as policecommunity relations officer as required.</li>\n <li>Perform patrol and surveillance duties as directed.</li>\n <li>Recognize and report public safety hazards.</li>\n <li>Acquire and apply skills and techniques such as first aid; photography; finger printing; crime scene search; collection and preservation of evidence; report writing; interviewing of victims, witnesses, suspects and accused; case preparation and court presentation.</li>\n <li>Render assistance to persons and agencies by providing advice, information, investigation, inspection, transportation, first aid, and similar services.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Serve as a member of College committees and as a public speaker as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Physical Standards and Special Job Features</h2>\n<p>Good physical and mental health.
