About the Comprehensive School-Based Mental Health Program
The Comprehensive School-Based Mental Health Program (CSBMHP) Is part of a larger community investment initiative led by CASA’s Indigenous Services department to improve the continuum of child and adolescent mental health care in First Nation and Métis communities. The CSBMHP supports First Nation and Métis school divisions to improve or develop models of intervention. School division partners are provided access to ongoing professional development, training and consultation services. The CSBMHP team provides universal mental health education, targeted group programming and mental health services to children and adolescents attending partner First Nation and Métis schools.

Salary/Wage range: $86,815.00 - $131,281.00

Status : Permanent
The Manager, Clinical will: Provide daily clinical and operational leadership to the program, including performance management, coaching, mentoring, clinical supervision and staff training. Collaborate with school administrations to develop and implement service pathways, mental health prevention, promotion and intervention programs including mental health classrooms. Attend ongoing cultural competency and integrated practice training sessions provided by CASA’s Indigenous Wellness Support Services (IWSS). Work collaboratively with the IWSS team to integrate traditional Indigenous mental health and wellness practices and worldviews into western mental health approaches to consultation, programming, assessment and treatment. Oversee culturally responsive, holistic and trauma-informed assessment and treatment. Lead case conferencing with the CSBMHP team and support ongoing communication with school administrations and wellness teams. Triage referrals and assign caseloads. Ensure adherence to CASA’s clinical policies and standards of practice. Train staff on organizational policies, admission, assessment, treatment planning and clinical documentation. Ensure high-quality record management through the electronic medical record system. Maintain community partnerships and resolve patient and family concerns. Support program improvements by collaborating with school partners and clinical teams, incorporating best practices and collecting data for evaluation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated leadership ability with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in all aspects of the discipline including clinical practice, supervision and education. Enhanced skills in knowledge translation, education, program design and evaluation are an asset. Ability to identify barriers and solutions to service provision. Ability to work autonomously, independently and to prioritize work activities. Experience working in school settings or with school administrations and/or support teams is desirable. Demonstrated ability to adapt to new or unexpected situations, and a flexible approach to interpersonal situations. Knowledge of traditional Indigenous mental health and wellness practices are an asset but are not required. Qualifications and Experience Master’s degree in clinical psychology or social work (with psycho-social intervention designation). Minimum of five years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
Conditions of Employment A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate. Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) as well as physical ability to perform all interventions. Valid Class 5 driver’s license, reliable vehicle and ability to travel to and from local partner Indigenous communities.
