          "text": "<p><strong><u>JOB SUMMARY</u></strong></p><p>This paragraph summarizes the general nature, level and purpose of the job.</p><p>The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician I is the entry, developmental, and training level of the Pharmacy Technician Job Family that performs, under supervision of a pharmacist, general pharmacy operations including preparing and dispensing medication doses, and non-sterile compounding for both hazardous and non-hazardous drugs. Demonstrates a basic understanding of the responsibilities regarding medication and pharmacy operations.</p><p><strong><u>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</u></strong></p><p>The essential functions listed are typical examples of work performed by positions in this job classification. They are not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, tasks, and responsibilities. Employees may also perform other duties as assigned.</p><p>Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.</p><p>Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.</p><p>* Performs non-sterile compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous drugs.<br>\n* Answers telephones and responds to requests at window promptly and courteously<br>\n* Submits billing information to third-party payor for claim adjudication.<br>\n* Orders supplies and checks for shortages, rotates stock, and removes expired medications.<br>\n* Accurately prepares medications for pharmacist to verify.<br>\n* Checks insurance eligibility on portals/websites (ie Medi-Cal, CCS) and interprets information<br>\n* Dispenses medications to patients and couriers following proper procedures.<br>\n* Runs basic pharmacy operation reports.<br>\n* May perform basic patient registration duties.<br>\n* Utilizes pharmacy resources for accurate documentation of assigned tasks.<br>\n* Assists with projects as assigned.</p>",

          "text": "<p><strong><u>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</u></strong></p><p>Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.</p><p><strong>Education:</strong> High School Diploma or GED equivalent.</p><p><strong>Experience: </strong>None required.</p><p><strong>License/Certification:</strong></p><ul><li>Intern Pharmacist by California Board of Pharmacy</li><li>or</li><li>Pharmacy Technician by California Board of Pharmacy</li></ul><p><strong><u>KNOWLEDGE</u></strong></p><p>These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education or licensure/certification.</p><p>* Ability to adapt to and deal with change and ambiguity.<br>\n* Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations; weighing, measuring and documentation with accuracy.<br>\n* Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines.<br>\n* Ability to solve problems and identify solutions.<br>\n* Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job.<br>\n* Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.<br>\n* Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.<br>\n* Ability to work with devices, information systems, automated and technical equipment utilized in pharmacy.<br>\n* Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.<br>\n* Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility.<br>\n* Knowledge of Medical terminology and abbreviations.<br>\n* Knowledge of methods and procedures involved in proper handling and storing of pharmaceutical supplies.</p><p><strong><u>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</u></strong></p><p>The Physical Requirements and Working Conditions in which the job is typically performed are available from the Occupational Health Department.
