S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team<br />\r\nenvironment and develop positive relationships with the children and their parents. Assistants are<br />\r\nresponsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on the children&rsquo;s interests<br />\r\nand needs under the direction of the Teacher and/or the Group Supervisor.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>Primary Activities and Responsibilities:</p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>&nbsp;Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by the children.</li>\r\n\t<li>Actively engage in activities inside and outside.</li>\r\n\t<li>Manage cleanliness, and order of classroom and classroom materials.</li>\r\n\t<li>Communicate effectively with children to ensure safety, relationships, and guidance.</li>\r\n\t<li>Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.</li>\r\n\t<li>Follow all Stepping Stones policies as well as DHS regulations.</li>\r\n\t<li>Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.</li>\r\n\t<li>Miscellaneous tasks as assigned by supervisor.</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p>Minimum Qualifications:</p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>High School Diploma</li>\r\n\t<li>Minimum of 2 years (2,500 hours) of professional experience working/volunteering with children.</li>\r\n\t<li>Willingness to complete a CDA, SAC or credit equivalent course work.</li>\r\n\t<li>&nbsp;High energy.</li>\r\n\t<li>Ability to work well with others.</li>\r\n\t<li>An understanding of child development.</li>\r\n\t<li>Ability to interact with children on different levels including the floor, lift/carry children and supplies, and move around the center while supervising children.</li>\r\n\t<li>Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.</li>\r\n\t<li>Must pass full background check, drug screening test and health screening.</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p>Knowledge and Skills:</p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and/or other software programs.</li>\r\n\t<li>Ability to use basic office equipment.</li>\r\n\t<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li>\r\n\t<li>Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p>About Stepping Stones Children&#39;s Center</p>\r\n\r\n<p>Stepping Stones is a non-profit childcare center based north of Pittsburgh in Gibsonia, PA with multiple program offerings, including: (i) full-day childcare at our Main Center location in Gibsonia for infants through Pre-K, (ii) before and after-school care programs for elementary school students in two local school districts (care is provided on school property), (iii) extended day program for half-day kindergarten students in two local school districts, and (iv) full-day summer camp.
