Description Part-Time Faculty: Nursing Mental Health Clinical Instructor - Fall 2026 The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) transforms the lives of students of every age and background across the State of Maine and beyond through access to high-quality distance and on-site education, excellence in student support, civic engagement, and professional and liberal arts programs. UMA is the third largest public university in Maine. In addition to its main campus in the state’s capital, UMA also serves students at its campus in Bangor (UMA Bangor) and through UMA Centers around the state. With its multiple locations and long-term expertise in online and distance learning, UMA is generally considered the university of choice for Mainers of all ages who want to attend college without uprooting their lives. Statement: UMA's Nursing Program invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach clinical in our program. UMA has a holistic RN-BSN program which has AHNCC endorsement and started admitting students to the pre-licensure option concept-based curriculum which emphasizes caring science in fall 2019. We seek candidates who demonstrate expertise in evidence-based best practices in teaching nursing, a passion for nursing and teaching, a commitment to supporting diversity and student success, and a desire to join and collaborate with program faculty to implement these practices. Our teaching facilities include a state-of-the-art simulation center on the Augusta campus and smart classrooms. The faculty at the University of Maine at Augusta has a strong tradition of serving the needs of local and distance students. Responsibilities include: Teaching mental health theory, lab, simulation and/or clinical courses in the BSN pre-licensure program in both traditional and non-traditional clinical formats. Review of applications is ongoing. Additional courses may be taught depending on applicant experience and education. Required Qualifications: Current unencumbered licensure as a RN in the State of Maine, or eligibility for Maine licensure. A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing/Master’s or higher to teach the theory portion of any course. Clinical practice within the past five years in mental health. Strong desire to support student learning in mental health environments and experiences. Teaching that includes the use of new technologies and delivery systems; experience teaching students at a distance. Preferred Qualifications: Three or more years of teaching at the college level. MSN or higher degree in nursing National certification as an Advanced Holistic Nurse (AHNCC) Teaching experience within a concept based curriculum with an emphasis on caring science. Experience in teaching in simulation Salary: The salary range is per credit hour and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
