Job Summary
Responsible for managing all dispatch functions of the largest board owned public school transportation fleet in TN. Supervises and coordinates all aspects of Transportation Dispatch Operations. Collaborates with principals, central offices, parents, TN State Department of Education, outside agencies, and others as necessary.
What you will do
Responsible for managing all dispatch functions of the largest board owned public school transportation fleet in TN (approx. 80,000 students enrolled).
Directly supervises the work and scheduling of 8 Full Time Dispatchers; completes scheduling, payroll, supervision, and evaluation of staff performance.
Directly communicates and collaborates with Stakeholders, to include Transportation Leadership, School Based Leadership, Community Members, MNPS Family Information Center (FIC), Bus Drivers, and Transportation Customer Service staff in order to provide safe, efficient daily transportation for all students on home/school and extracurricular activities.
Collaborate with Routing Manager on a regular basis to improve efficiency of Transportation Operations.
Responsible to ensure all daily routes are covered, suitable route substitutes are provided, and buses are arriving to and from school in a timely manner.
Responsible to notify Senior Transportation Leadership and Transportation Fleet Maintenance of all accidents and incidents in a timely manner.
Must possess a Commercial Driver’s License with a Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsement within one year of accepting position and prepared to operate a school bus at any time needed and required.
Must have the ability to effectively utilize numerous transportation software programs, including GPS Fleet Tracking (Geotab), RFID Student Badge Programs (Tyler Drive Tablets), Routing Software (Tyler OnScreen), Payroll Processing (Oracle), Field Trip Planning (Trip Tracker), Microsoft Office Suite, Dispatch Consoles, and Parent Applications (My Stop)
Responsible for providing Transportation Senior Leadership with an End of Day Report, 40-Day Student Counts, and other Reports and KPI Data as requested.
Responsible to ensure all after-hours dispatch is appropriately staffed.
Completes After-School Program Recaps and Reports to other Transportation Management for Final Payroll processing.
Manages and coordinates numerous special projects such as Summer School, After School, Career Day, Bus Pick-Up and Turn-In, Professional Development Days (In-Services), and others as assigned.
Responsible for tracking attendance on bus drivers and bus monitors, including daily and weekly status of absenteeism.
Dispatching Inclement Weather Team, directly communicating with Transportation Leadership concerning road status updates.
Education Qualifications
Business degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in logistics and/or business process applications or an equivalent work experience in same or related field Required

Directly applicable experience in logistics and/or business process applications, including five years’ experience directly supervising others Required

Equivalency
Starting At: $102,374.78
Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
