As the North American headquarters for G-TEKT Corporation , Jefferson Industries actively participates in the Global Automotive Industry. As part of our involvement, Jefferson Industries Corporation offers design and development for press dies and other tools necessary to produce automotive products. We embrace programs for product development including product design review and Advanced Product Quality Planning. Our facilities support high quality product manufacturing, and we provide a timely and flexible approach to meeting the needs of our customers.
We are actively seeking an EHS Coordinator to join our team on 2nd Shift (core schedule, Monday through Friday 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm)
Position Description
Note – The following is not intended to be all-inclusive. Business conditions change and develop, as well as the individual develops requiring flexibility, straight forward communication, and forward thinking to prepare and adapt to change. The individual is expected to grow within these guidelines focusing on excellence within the role. You work in a friendly and courteous manner providing an accurate flow of communication. (Both internal and external).
This will prepare the individual for potential future positions as the business needs require and the individual demonstrates their contribution and potential.
Your position is responsible for providing professional and dependable service and to develop our Team’s capability to deliver JIC’s key objectives to all our customers and suppliers. You will have a complete understanding of all customer/supplier requirements.
Your understanding of JIC’s Management Policy “To become the best supplier” through our philosophy and guiding principles “Safety, Morale, Quality, Cost & Delivery” is imperative.
This role will be measured against specific targets as noted in the departmental business plan.
Summary: Assists in PLANning AND DIRECTing ALL ACTIVITIES RELATED TO SAFETY & HEALTH IN all areas of the facility. Assists in DEVELOPing, IMPLEMENTing AND MONITORing SAFETY TRAINING AND THE FACILITY ERGONOMICS PROGRAMS. the assistant MANAGER is eXPECTED TO model behavior required for JIC associates including professionalism, teamwork, job performance and support OF MANAGEMENT. They must carry out their routine responsibilities as well as other assigned tasks by motivating associates positively. assists in PEFORMing THE FOLLOWING DUTIES PERSONALLY OR THROUGH others in the department. The EHS Assistant Manager represents the ehs manageR ROLE when the ehs manager is not present (e.g. 2 ND & 3 RD , ABSENCES) OR THE POSITION IS VACANT.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists under the EHS Manager direction the following activities:
SAFETY
Create and manage safety programs in compliance with regulatory requirements, to ensure safe working conditions for all Associates and Contractors.
Monitors work practices throughout the company to ensure Associates are following safety practices and policies.
Create and manage safety training and ergonomics programs.
Manage Workers’ Compensation claims and compliance.
Manage OSHA recordkeeping, inspections and compliance.
Maintain first aid of supplies.
Maintain internal safety permit programs (e.g. hot work etc.)
Ensures safety-training records are maintained.
Awareness of new and changing safety regulations and their application to company operations.
Create and manage Safety Committee activities.
Attend safety council meetings as needed or directed.
QUALITY
Coordinates Root Cause Analysis for post incident investigations.
Apply PDCA cycle problem resolution technique to assure sustainable safety practices.
Fully and accurately cooperates with 3 rd party (e.g. regulatory) safety investigations
Performs safety risk assessments as needed.
COST
Analyzes safety incident records to prevent re-occurring safety incidents and minimize Workers Compensation costs.
Assists with the development of Risk Management & EHS Department budget and costs.
Assists in workers compensation claims and resolution (e.g. attending hearings, providing supporting documentation, cooperating with third-party administrator investigations).
DELIVERY
Tracks and coordinates the investigation and counter-measures for safety incidents.
Ensures new hire safety training is performed and effective
Develop and manage periodic safety and environmental content and perform and/or coordinate with training functions, such as Lockout, Hazcom, Confined Space, Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV), Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Awareness, etc.
Manage Safety Data Sheets (AKA SDS).
MANAGEMENT
Assists with administering, in an effective and professional manner the First Responder and First Aid Programs, participates and performs training.
Assists with implementing EHS objectives.
Accepts job assignments and changes in a positive manner; takes responsibility for own and team’s performance and job assignments.
Co-EMR for ISO14001 program
Seeks out new assignments, proposes new work methods and finds better ways to complete tasks.
Maintains confidentiality, only shares information on a “Need to know” basis
Directs EHS Coordinator activities as delegated by EHS Manager.
Participate in the business plan process.
Other duties may be assigned.
PDCA
Develops PDCA fundamentals into daily management practices in Safety and Administration Department to achieve corporate goals

Qualifications

Interpersonal Skills : Possess skills to communicate with associates, management team, other department managers and senior management. Is able to effectively work with minimal supervision.

Problem-Solving Skills : Able to quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in identifying issues and solving problems.
Time Management : Develop task list and assure on-time implementation of tasks.
Computer Skills : Able to operate with basic Office computer software, including Word, Excel and Power Point. Assists with preparing reports and presentations for group discussions.
EDUCATION, MATH, LANGUAGE AND/OR EXPERIENCE
B.S. degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Adequate related experience regarding safety themes applicable/transferable to a manufacturing environment. Have and effectively apply OSHA 10 hour training. Seek to obtain OSHA 30 hour training. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to professionally and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The EHS Assistant Manager represents the ehs manageR ROLE when the ehs manager is not present (e.g. 2ND & 3RD, ABSENCES) OR THE POSITION IS VACANT.\\r\\n\\r\\n \\r\\n\\r\\nESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:\\r\\n\\r\\n \\r\\n\\r\\nAssists under the EHS Manager direction the following activities:\\r\\n\\r\\n \\r\\n\\r\\nSAFETY\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n\\tCreate and manage safety programs in compliance with regulatory requirements, to ensure safe working conditions for all Associates and Contractors.\\r\\n\\tMonitors work practices throughout the company to ensure Associates are following safety practices and policies.\\r\\n\\tCreate and manage safety training and ergonomics programs.\\r\\n\\tManage Workers’ Compensation claims and compliance.\\r\\n\\tManage OSHA recordkeeping, inspections and compliance.\\r\\n\\tMaintain first aid of supplies.\\r\\n\\tMaintain internal safety permit programs (e.g. hot work etc.)\\r\\n\\tEnsures safety-training records are maintained.\\r\\n\\tAwareness of new and changing safety regulations and their application to company operations.\\r\\n\\tCreate and manage Safety Committee activities.\\r\\n\\tAttend safety council meetings as needed or directed.\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n \\r\\n\\r\\n \\r\\n\\r\\nQUALITY\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n\\tCoordinates Root Cause Analysis for post incident investigations.\\r\\n\\tApply PDCA cycle problem resolution technique to assure sustainable safety practices.\\r\\n\\tFully and accurately cooperates with 3rd party (e.g. regulatory) safety investigations\\r\\n\\tPerforms safety risk assessments as needed.\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\nCOST\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n\\tAnalyzes safety incident records to prevent re-occurring safety incidents and minimize Workers Compensation costs.\\r\\n\\tAssists with the development of Risk Management & EHS Department budget and costs.\\r\\n\\tAssists in workers compensation claims and resolution (e.g. attending hearings, providing supporting documentation, cooperating with third-party administrator investigations).\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\nDELIVERY\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n\\tTracks and coordinates the investigation and counter-measures for safety incidents.\\r\\n\\tEnsures new hire safety training is performed and effective\\r\\n\\tDevelop and manage periodic safety and environmental content and perform and/or coordinate with training functions, such as Lockout, Hazcom, Confined Space, Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV), Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Awareness, etc.\\r\\n\\tManage Safety Data Sheets (AKA SDS).\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\nMANAGEMENT\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n\\tAssists with administering, in an effective and professional manner the First Responder and First Aid Programs, participates and performs training.\\r\\n\\tAssists with implementing EHS objectives.\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n\\tAccepts job assignments and changes in a positive manner;
