Job Title: Faculty (Transfer) Status / FLSA Status: FT / Exempt Classification: Faculty Department: Transfer Education Reports To: Vice President of Educational and Student Services Location: District-wide Date Reviewed: April 2024 Date Updated: April 2024 PRIMARY FUNCTION: The faculty is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of instruction and related activities in a variety of delivery modalities. The faculty is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, and/or weekend on any Spoon River College campus as assigned. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, instructional counseling, and serving on various committees. Faculty performs all other duties as directed by the appropriate Instructional Administrator or designee. RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans and teaches courses in an assigned discipline. Prepares course syllabi using the college-approved template within the syllabus management system. Prepares instructional materials, and coordinates lectures, course activities, labs, and the means for student assessment. Teaches all courses according to the course syllabi and provides evaluation procedures and attendance expectations. Maintains appropriate records and submits required reports, grades, etc., according to deadlines. Maintains scheduled on-campus hours as required in the collective bargaining agreement. Actively attends and participates in committees, meetings, professional development sessions, and commencement. Recommends textbooks, library books, and other instructional materials. Assists in the organization of, and meetings with, college committees, including but not limited to college governance committees. Assists with the initiation and development of new courses, concentrations, and programs and the revision of the same. Communicates with faculty, staff, administration, and students through the use of college-provided email or LMS messaging system in a timely fashion. Maintains a safe classroom environment and reports all incidents of injury, illness, theft, or threats of violence. Utilizes the college LMS for all courses. Required components include course syllabus, course messaging and announcements, grade book, and student evaluations. Ensures all digital course materials are American with Disability Act (ADA) compliant. Participates in the College’s General Education Assessment Program by examining, measuring, reporting, and implementing improvements regarding student success. Assists in the recruitment and retention of students which includes but is not limited to college visit days, high school visits, student activities, and other recruitment and retention events. Observes, supports, and enforces the policies of the college. Provides appropriate leadership and supervision of student activities where applicable. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. A master’s degree in the applicable subject area from a regionally accredited institution is required. Teaching experience is required, preferably in a community college setting. Ability and willingness to teach in all modalities. Experience in all phases of the instructional process. Demonstrated ability to use instructional technology is required. Familiarity with basic LMS programs, such as Canvas, is preferred. Ability to function effectively in both large and small classes. Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and administration. Ability to adapt to changes in programs, colleagues, students, etc. Possess excellent communication skills. PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical demands for this position include the ability to regularly sit, use hands and fingers, talk, and hear. This position requires limited standing, walking, reaching, and stooping/kneeling. Vision requirements for this position include the ability to view text on a computer monitor. The work environment for this position includes a typical office environment with no extremes in temperature, noise, and limited physical risk.

font-size: 14px;\">The faculty is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of instruction and related activities in a variety of delivery modalities. The faculty is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, and/or weekend on any Spoon River College campus as assigned. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, instructional counseling, and serving on various committees. Faculty performs all other duties as directed by the appropriate Instructional Administrator or designee.</span></p><p style='margin:0in;font-size:13px;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",serif;text-align:justify;'><br></p><p style='margin:0in;font-size:13px;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",serif;text-align:justify;'><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><br></span></p><p style='margin:0in;font-size:13px;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",serif;'><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></span></p><div style='margin:0in;font-size:13px;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",serif;'><ol style=\"margin-bottom:0in;list-style-type: decimal;margin-left: 0in;\"><li style=\"margin: 0in; font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Plans and teaches courses in an assigned discipline.</li><li style=\"margin: 0in; font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Prepares course syllabi using the college-approved template within the syllabus management system.&nbsp;</li><li style=\"margin: 0in; font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Prepares instructional materials, and coordinates lectures, course activities, labs, and the means for student assessment.</li><li style=\"margin: 0in; font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Teaches all courses according to the course syllabi and provides evaluation procedures and attendance expectations.</li><li style=\"margin: 0in; font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Maintains appropriate records and submits required reports, grades, etc., according to deadlines.</li><li style=\"margin: 0in; font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Maintains scheduled on-campus hours as required in the collective bargaining agreement.</li><li style=\"margin: 0in; font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Actively attends and participates in committees, meetings, professional development sessions, and commencement.</li><li style=\"margin: 0in; font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Recommends textbooks, library books, and other instructional materials.</li><li style=\"margin: 0in; font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Assists in the organization of, and meetings with, college committees, including but not limited to college governance committees.&nbsp;</li><li style=\"margin: 0in; font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Assists with the initiation and development of new courses, concentrations, and programs and the revision of the same.</li><li style=\"margin: 0in; font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Communicates with faculty, staff, administration, and students through the use of college-provided email or LMS messaging system in a timely fashion.</li><li style=\"margin: 0in; font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Maintains a safe classroom environment and reports all incidents of injury, illness, theft, or threats of violence.</li><li style=\"margin: 0in; font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Utilizes the college LMS for all courses.
