Description

Description Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians. The Intern, Business Technology Solutions will support a strategic ERP implementation focused on improving data integrity, standardizing business processes, and enhancing system efficiency. This role offers hands-on experience in enterprise systems transformation, including data cleanup, testing, and business process analysis, within a collaborative project team. The Intern will contribute to process flow documentation, process gap analysis, updates to standard operating procedures, data quality review and updates, and testing support. This is a great opportunity for someone detail-oriented, organized, eager to learn, and interested in gaining practical experience in ERP systems and business operations. Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at Capilano Business Park, North Vancouver. What you’ll do Support data cleanup and migration : Assist in cleaning, validating, and mapping legacy data to ensure accurate and high-quality data migration into the new ERP system. Participate in testing activities : Help prepare and execute test cases, track results, and support user acceptance testing by documenting outcomes and gathering user feedback. Contribute to process and systems analysis : Aid in documenting current workflows, attending requirements-gathering sessions, and creating visual documentation like flowcharts to support systems analysis. Provide general project support : Attend and take meeting minutes, maintain project documentation, support scheduling and communication efforts, and assist in coordinating tasks across departments. Engage in ERP learning and training : Attend training sessions to become familiar with the ERP system and stay informed on best practices and implementation trends. What you’ll bring Enrollment in a Computer Science or Business Administration degree program. A good communicator with strength in collaboration and relationship building, maintains a healthy, open and trusting workplace, with integrity and accountability. With a passion for service excellence and business enablement, working to develop skills that will deliver on work products that provide measurable business benefit. A keen interest in how business works; continually develops business acumen through learning and training. An interest and some exposure to Organizational Change Management, Project Management and Process Improvement principles.
