Description

Description Under the Supervision of the Behavioral Health Outreach Supervisor the Community Mental Health Worker role involves connecting with individuals who are experiencing mental health challenges, substance use disorder, domestic violence and homeless or at risk to become homeless. The primary goal is to provide compassionate support, facilitate access to essential services, and connect clients to appropriate providers and resources. In this role, the Community Mental Health Worker will bring cultural sensitivity, empathy, effective communication skills, and play a crucial role in improving the lives of vulnerable individuals within the Native American community. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in clinical or mental health settings. AA degree in social work, counseling (Preferred) Strong leadership and communication skills. Knowledge of local resources and services. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations. Ability to obtain the Community Health Worker certification within one year of employment. QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to author assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and correspondence. Possesses excellent interpersonal skills in building relationships and verbal communication. Ability to speak effectively before groups of community/tribal members, interdisciplinary staff, and employees of an outside agency. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Maintain the client’s comprehensive clinical record through detailed documentation. The employee must maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate the varying needs of patients. Must maintain a valid, unrestricted California Driver’s license, be insurable under SCIHP’s automobile insurance, and meet insurance requirements regarding driver record to utilize GSA vehicles. CPR Certification Must be able to work various evenings and weekends.
