The Adelman Lab at Harvard Medical School is looking for a full-time Research Assistant (RA) to join our vibrant, interdisciplinary team. Our group investigates how gene regulation goes awry in diseases such as cancer and neurodevelopmental disorders, with a focus on the role of RNA quality control. We are looking for candidates who are hardworking, curious, and highly motivated to learn. You should enjoy problem-solving and be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. Responsibilities will include designing and conducting experiments (with support and guidance), analyzing data, and helping to plan next steps. We encourage independence and critical thinking, and you will have frequent opportunities to expand your skills and learn new techniques. You will work closely with scientists at all career stages, and contribute directly to exciting research using molecular biology, cell biology, and genome engineering techniques to understand how abnormal RNA production contributes to disease. Prior experience with mammalian cell culture is an advantage, though not required. Most importantly, we we value enthusiasm for research and a commitment to scientific growth. Joining the Adelman Lab will provide exceptional training and mentorship for those interested in careers in biomedical research or graduate school. Job Responsibilities: Assist with maintenance of equipment and laboratory tasks as needed. Cell culture, including differentiation of pluripotent cells. Genomic analyses of RNA synthesis and protein localization, including preparation of libraries for ChIP-seq, CUT&TAG and nascent RNA sequencing. Generation of cell lines using CRISPR-Cas9. Analyze data. Prepare figures and data for manuscripts and presentations. Basic Qualifications: College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in Molecular Biology or a related field. At least one year of related work experience (relevant coursework may count towards experience).  Additional Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Molecular Biology or a related field.  1 year of research experience (full or substantial part-time) in a molecular or cell biology laboratory, including experience with standard molecular biology methods such as molecular cloning and PCR, is preferred. Experience with mammalian cell culture and/or mammalian cell differentiation systems is a strength.  Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Excellent record-keeping, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Term : This is a 1-year term position from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position.   Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week | Monday - Friday | 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Visa Sponsorship Information: Harvard University is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
