We are looking for like-minded, dynamic individuals to come and join our team. The Caring Place provides emergency shelter, residential programs, job training, education &amp; computer literacy classes, healthcare, transitional housing, permanent housing, employment opportunities for homeless men, women, and children as well as programs for &ldquo;at-risk&rdquo; youth.<br><br>We are currently seeking a PT Teaching Assistant at our Education Center in Miami, FL.</p><p data-pasted=\"true\"><strong><u>JOB SUMMARY</u></strong><em>&nbsp;</em></p><p>The <strong>Teaching Assistant (TA)</strong> reports to the <strong>Education Manager (EM)</strong>, and assists in administering the education program including tutoring, diagnostic testing, monitoring students&rsquo; activities, motivating students, and record keeping.</p><p><strong><u>CORE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:</u></strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Administers timely diagnostic testing before and after student is assigned to a program</li><li>Grades tests accurately and timely</li><li>Monitors students&rsquo; activities and verifies test scores</li><li>Assists students with computer literacy in an unintimidating manner</li><li>Maintains a professional image, and treats students with respect and dignity</li><li>Maintains an approachable demeanor with students, encourages them, and helps with building their confidence</li><li>Encourages residents when they are discouraged or feel inadequate</li><li>Is patient and understanding when dealing with residents</li><li>Teaches and instructs residents using positive reinforcement</li><li>Is available to residents, and rewards their efforts with appropriate forms of recognition</li><li>Completes and submits all documentation accurately and timely</li><li>Will lead and/or participate in devotions, prayers, or other ministry activities ex. outreach events</li><li>Must be in agreement with and sign The Caring Place Statement of Faith</li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned</li></ul><p><strong><u>EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:</u></strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Requires a High School diploma and a minimum of 1 year of tutoring experience.</li><li>Must have the ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English</li><li>Must be able to communicate effectively with compassion, and motivate residents to learn and improve their skills.</li><li>Must be computer literate have experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)</li></ul><p><strong><u>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</u></strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Must be able to sit for extended periods, and have the ability to lift and/or pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds</li><li>Must also be able to see, hear and speak, in order to interact with staff and the general public</li><li>Must also be able to move around as needed to perform essential job duties</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\" data-pasted=\"true\"><strong><u>PERKS AND BENEFITS</u></strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Employee Discounts</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Company Paid Life insurance</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">403b Retirement Plan with 3% match</li></ul>Only qualified candidates will be considered.
