S/he builds relationships with members and program participants through effective and positive customer service while providing a safe instructional environment. This job is fully on-site, not remote.</p><p><br><strong>Essential duties</strong></p><p>Private Swim Instruction:</p><ul><li>Maintains a safe, instructional, and supportive environment.</li><li>Teaches students the principles of correct stroke, water safety, and swimming endurance</li><li>Teaches group classes to preschool and school aged children</li><li>Develops appropriate introduction to a variety of water sports/activities</li></ul><p>General:</p><ul><li>Engages all members/participants in a professional and courteous manner:</li><li>Greet/say hello and goodbye to all participants in the aquatics area and learn members names and call them by their names</li><li>Listen and be accessible to all members for questions and comments</li><li>Follow-up as needed</li><li>Engages members on new classes, new changes, etc.</li><li>Maintains proper functioning/cleanliness and/or report malfunctioning of Water area/equipment to supervisor</li><li>Redirects members on cell phones to front lobby</li><li>Adheres and incorporate the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and educates members about the YMCA mission and goals</li><li>Complies with all Somerset Hills YMCA Policies and Procedures</li><li>Attends trainings, seminars and meetings as required</li></ul><p><strong>Other duties:</strong></p><ul><li>Arrives to work five (5) minutes before shift starts</li><li>Wear appropriate and professional uniform/attire</li><li>All other duties as assigned</li></ul>",
