The Utilities Technician plays a critical role in ensuring safe drinking water delivery, reliable wastewater collection, and the ongoing maintenance of municipal infrastructure.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Essential Duties and Responsibilities</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist in the repair, operation, installation, construction, maintenance, and servicing of water mains, services, valves, hydrants, and related appurtenances</li>\n<li>Perform restoration of disturbed areas, including asphalt patching, concrete sidewalk repairs, and restoration of vegetated areas</li>\n<li>Locate water and sewer lines, leaks, valves, and services</li>\n<li>Perform water service taps</li>\n<li>Inspect work performed by private contractors, including testing new and replaced components</li>\n<li>Collect water distribution system samples and perform required compliance and operational testing</li>\n<li>Participate in maintenance of the sewer collection system, including flushing lines, removing roots, adjusting and maintaining manhole covers, and inspecting infrastructure</li>\n<li>Assist with construction, installation, and repair of sewer lines and manholes</li>\n<li>Respond to customer concerns and identify and resolve system issues</li>\n<li>Perform traffic control and maintain safety and warning signage at work sites</li>\n<li>Operate excavation and utility equipment</li>\n<li>Participate in after-hours emergency call-ins for water main breaks and sewer system backups</li>\n<li>Read, repair, and replace water meters</li>\n<li>Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment</li>\n<li>Install, maintain, and repair fire hydrants and ensure year-round access</li>\n<li>Mow and trim grass along the water and sewer rights-of-way</li>\n<li>Perform sidewalk winter maintenance, including after-hours storm response</li>\n<li>Perform related duties as assigned</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of water treatment and distribution system operations</li>\n<li>Knowledge of water treatment techniques, instrumentation, laboratory procedures, and sampling</li>\n<li>Knowledge of sewer system construction, maintenance, and repair methods</li>\n<li>Knowledge of underground utility excavation procedures and confined space safety</li>\n<li>Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, Town ordinances, and departmental policies</li>\n<li>Proficiency with computers and job-related software</li>\n<li>Skill in operating tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment</li>\n<li>Skill in vehicle and equipment maintenance</li>\n<li>Skill in locating underground utilities</li>\n<li>Strong problem-solving, planning, and prioritization skills</li>\n<li>Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills</li>\n<li>Ability to work safely in high-traffic, stressful, and hazardous environments</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Demands and Work Environment</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work involves standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, and climbing</li>\n<li>Frequent lifting of light to heavy objects and use of tools requiring dexterity</li>\n<li>Ability to distinguish colors and utilize sensory awareness (sight, smell, etc.)</li>\n<li>Work performed outdoors and occasionally at the treatment facilities, including cold or inclement weather</li>\n<li>Exposure to moving machinery, dust, dirt, grease, irritating chemicals, and raw sewage</li>\n<li>Use of personal protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, and masks required</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Minimum Qualifications</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum High School Diploma; Specialized training related to utilities, water, or sewer systems preferred but will train the right candidate</li>\n<li>One to two years of relevant experience or equivalent apprenticeship/internship experience preferred</li>\n<li>Possession of, or ability to readily obtain, a<span> </span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">valid New Hampshire Class A CDL with tank endorsement;
