Whether you're advancing national security, driving innovation in nuclear infrastructure, or supporting critical DOE and DoD operations, you’re part of something bigger here.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Control System Senior Engineer to support ongoing operations in Greenville, SC and Houston, TX. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge and leadership as described below. This position has oversight of a specific area and acts as a representative of the engineering discipline ensuring technical accuracy in project execution in all phases. This is a lead position on assigned projects performing engineering assignments of advanced complexity.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Under general supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer, serve as an Area Lead providing guidance / supervision to other engineers and designers</li>\n <li>Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding technical solutions to problems of advanced complexity in accordance with project requirements</li>\n <li>Develop and review specifications and design criteria</li>\n <li>Perform and check engineering analyses and calculations; specify materials, equipment, and systems; and solve technical problems of advanced complexity</li>\n <li>Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients</li>\n <li>Execute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and procedures</li>\n <li>Execute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselines</li>\n <li>Develop and review estimates, schedules, and progress reports including effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting</li>\n <li>Establish, control, and report on material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts</li>\n <li>Provide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement and subcontracting including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations, and review of vendor submittals</li>\n <li>Provide technical support to activities associated with construction administration including response to construction requests-for-information and field changes</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Education Requirements</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor of Science degree in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related engineering field and minimum ten (10) years of work-related experience</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen</li>\n <li>Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check</li>\n <li>Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standards</li>\n <li>Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors</li>\n <li>Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job</li>\n <li>Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards</li>\n <li>Ability to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes, statutes and guidelines</li>\n <li>Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner</li>\n <li>Intermediate computer and software skills to include proficiency in the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs</li>\n <li>Significant experience providing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services on large industrial projects</li>\n <li>Proficiency executing large EPC projects utilizing engineering analysis, 3D modeling and 2D Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) automation tools in a multi-discipline environment</li>\n <li>Perform a broad range of I&C design activities, including design definition, control systems architecture and development, digital systems, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), network configuration, logic development, network switches, process controls, Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) development support and review, HMI, communication protocols, routing, and layout, Safety Integrity Level (SIL), and procurement activities</li>\n <li>Prepare and modify instrument and control systems design documents (e.g., instrument datasheets, Input / Output wiring diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, logic diagrams, cable schedules, and instrument installation details)</li>\n <li>Perform, check and audit control systems sizing calculations for control valves, relief valves, flow elements, thermowells, and other instrumentation</li>\n <li>Create instrument index and datasheets, generate reports, and monitor design wiring and loop development activities in Intergraph SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) database</li>\n <li>Develop complex control systems narrative specifications</li>\n <li>Prepare complex Instrument design and installation requirements</li>\n <li>Develop complex control systems logic diagrams and/or cause and effect diagrams</li>\n <li>Represent control systems in model reviews</li>\n <li>Closely monitor 3D modeling prepared by the design group using review software</li>\n <li>Develop complex specifications for DCS, PLC, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) hardware and software applications</li>\n <li>Monitor DCS / PLC / SIS design developed by the design group</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Possession of an active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two (2) years is preferred</li>\n <li>Previous DOE/NNSA work experience</li>\n <li>EPC project experience for the following industries:\n  <ul>\n   <li>U.S Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government Agency</li>\n   <li>Nuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program</li>\n   <li>Manufacturing, pharmaceutical or biotechnology</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation</li>\n <li>Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD</li>\n <li>Proficiency with Intergraph SPI</li>\n <li>Advanced knowledge of:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Specifying instrumentation</li>\n   <li>Control systems procurement activities</li>\n   <li>P&ID representation; can recognize / report problems associated with control systems representation on P&ID</li>\n   <li>Developing control strategies and represent on P&ID</li>\n   <li>Loading information such as Input / Output (I/O) assignment, I/O type, alarms and setpoints, into and extract information from Intergraph SPI database</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Knowledge and experience developing safety requirement specifications for Safety Instrumented Systems</li>\n <li>Practical experience in Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) reviews and SIL assignment</li>\n <li>Experience in SIL verification calculations</li>\n <li>Experience in commissioning and startup of DCS, PLC, and SIS</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Work Schedule</h2>Shift will be dependent upon customer site discretion.\n<h2>Why Omega Technical Services?</h2>\n<p>Omega Technical Services is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business and a trusted partner to the Department of Energy, Department of Defense, and other commercial clients, supporting mission-critical projects that shape national security and technological innovation.
