Per diem employees are offered work on an &quot;as-needed&quot; basis.</em></strong></span></p><p id=\"isPasted\"><span style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'><u>POSITION SUMMARY:</u></span></p><p><span style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Performs RNFA responsibilities in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Nevada, institutional policies and procedures of this facility, and the AORN Position Statement on RN First Assistants. The RNFA practices in collaboration with the surgeon and the health care team in performing a safe operation with optimal outcomes for the patient. The RNFA does not concurrently function as the scrub nurse.</span></p><p><span style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'><br></span></p><p><span style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'><u>POSITION REQUIREMENTS:</u></span></p><p><span style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'><strong>Minimum Education</strong></span></p><ul><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Successful completion of an RNFA program that meets the AORN Recommended Education *Standards for RNFA Programs and the criteria for the CBPN Acceptance Program.</li></ul><p><span style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'><strong>License Required</strong></span></p><ul><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Current NV Nursing license.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Must maintain CNOR and RN Licensure with the required amount of Continuing Education.</li></ul><p><span style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'><strong>Certification Required</strong></span></p><ul><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Certified as a CNOR.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>CRNFA certification preferred after meeting eligibility requirements for exam.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>BLS and ACLS required.</li></ul><p><span style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'><strong>Minimum Work Experience</strong></span></p><ul><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Ability to communicate effectively.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>&#39;Must show initiative, maturity, and effectiveness in dealing with people.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Appreciation of and desire to be part of a healthcare team.</li></ul><p><span style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'><br></span></p><p><span style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'><u>POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</u></span></p><p><span style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'><strong>Knowledge</strong></span></p><ul><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Practice within limitations of preparation and experience. Intraoperative nursing behaviors may include:<ol style=\"font-family: initial; font-size: initial;\"><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>handling tissue.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>providing exposure.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>using instruments.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>suturing and tying.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>providing hemostasis.</li></ol></li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Function as an assistant in all surgical specialties at the direction of the attending surgeon.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>May perform pre and post-operative patient education as designated.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Review chart for pertinent data.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Assist in maintaining a safe environment and promoting efficiency in surgical procedures.</li></ul><p><span style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'><strong>Judgment</strong></span></p><ul><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Demonstrates knowledge of hospital policies and procedures for administering, transcribing, and recording medications.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Demonstrates knowledge of commonly used meds: action, dose, and side effects.</li><li style='font-family: \"times new roman\", serif; font-size: 16px;'>Observes 10 rights of medication administration: &nbsp;right med, right dose, right time, right route, right patient, right education, right documentation, right to refuse, right assessment, right evaluation.
