    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Overview</span></p>\n<p>The Lunch Program Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving daily lunches for approximately 100 students and staff. This part-time role takes place during school hours and plays an important part in caring for Hope’s students and staff through dependable, thoughtful, and quality food service.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>This position requires someone who is organized, reliable, able to work independently, and committed to providing simple, healthy, appealing meals in a clean and welcoming environment.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Job Scope</span></p>\n<p>Essential Responsibilities</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plan and prepare a weekly lunch menu and communicate it to teachers and parents in advance.</li>\n<li>Prepare and serve daily lunches for approximately 100 students and staff.</li>\n<li>Provide balanced meals that include a variety of food groups, including protein, dairy, fruits, vegetables, and grains.</li>\n<li>Plan meals with awareness of the approved budget, available supplies, and donated food items.</li>\n<li>Monitor food inventory and communicate supply needs in a timely manner.</li>\n<li>Maintain awareness of student allergies, dietary restrictions, and special meal needs as communicated by school leadership.</li>\n<li>Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, food preparation area, and serving area.</li>\n<li>Clean and reset all kitchen and lunch areas after meal service.</li>\n<li>Follow all applicable food safety, health, school, and ministry guidelines.</li>\n<li>Communicate clearly with school staff, supervisors, volunteers, and other team members.</li>\n<li>Help maintain a structured, positive, and respectful lunch environment.</li>\n<li>Communicate when additional help is needed and work alongside volunteers when available.</li>\n<li>Use proper portions to ensure all students and staff are served well while minimizing waste.</li>\n<li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Requirements</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.</li>\n<li>Able to prepare simple, appealing meals for a large group.</li>\n<li>Organized and able to manage food preparation, serving, and cleanup within the school lunch schedule.</li>\n<li>Able to take ownership of the lunch program and proactively identify needs.</li>\n<li>Strong communication skills with staff, volunteers, and team members.</li>\n<li>Flexible and able to adjust meals based on supply availability, timing, or unexpected changes.</li>\n<li>Committed to maintaining proper food safety and sanitation standards.</li>\n<li>Able to work in a Christian ministry environment and serve students and staff with kindness, professionalism, and care.</li>\n<li>Able to successfully complete all required background screening and child safety requirements.</li>\n<li>Able to obtain required food safety certification, if not already certified.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Preferred Qualifications</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience cooking for groups.</li>\n<li>Experience in a school, childcare, cafeteria, or kitchen setting.</li>\n<li>Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.</li>\n<li>Experience working with volunteers or in a ministry/nonprofit environment.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Physical Requirements</p>\n<ul>\n<li>This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time; bend, reach, lift, carry, and move food or kitchen supplies; safely use standard kitchen equipment; and work in environments that may include heat, cold storage, wet floors, and cleaning supplies. Reasonable accommodations may be made when appropriate.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Schedule</p>\n<ul>\n<li>This is a part-time position during school hours.
