    "description": "<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">CSS will provide Graduate Student Externs with an opportunity to extend their academic education with clinical training outside of their graduate school setting and </span><span style=\"color: #1c1d1f; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">aim to give participants practical experiences in their field of study</span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">.  We believe that externships </span><span style=\"color: #1c1d1f; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">are an essential component of graduate education in speech-language pathology and therefore supply a clinical practice externship that is not only the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge acquired in academic courses; it is the training ground for mastering the full skill set required for clinical practice and/or school based setting including interpersonal communication, writing skills, professional conduct, behavior management, and evidence-based practice, as well as business-related aspects of speech-language pathology such as billing and reimbursement.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1c1d1f; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">Overall we offer students the ability to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to work with a variety of populations and disorders in various settings under direct supervision.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">CSS goals:</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">- To provide Clinical Students with a positive and effective learning environment. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">- To develop Clinical Students’ professional competence through hands-on experience. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">- To be a part of the development and growth of the next generation of Speech  </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">   Language Pathologists. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">Student expectations:</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">- Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviors. </span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\"><br></span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">- Show initiative with tasks provided by your Clinical Supervisor. </span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\"><br></span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">- Demonstrate compassion, motivation, and enthusiasm to learn. </span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\"><br></span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">- Perform at the appropriate academic level and meet objectives as outlined by your academic institution and Clinical Supervisor.   </span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\"><br></span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">- Accept and utilize constructive feedback on performance and implement suggestions. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">-</span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">Follow CSS procedures for data collection</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">-Adhere to HIPAA privacy regulations</span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\"><br></span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">- Complete all forms and evaluations requested by CSS and/or the academic institution. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"color: #1c1d1f; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">*All externships require a mutual agreement between the </span></span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"color: #1c1d1f; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">academic program and the externship facility.</span></span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>",
