Description

Overview Certified Nurse Midwife Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center – Lebanon, NH Dartmouth Health system is currently recruiting an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join our collaborative practice at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center set in the beautiful Upper Valley of New Hampshire. We are eager to recruit and retain talented providers who will help us create a more dynamic, inclusive, and innovative team here at DHMC. In this role, you will be providing full-scope midwifery care to individuals with low and moderate-risk obstetrical needs. Inpatient care is provided on the Birthing Pavilion and involves intrapartum and postpartum care. You will also provide gynecological care in the ambulatory setting. Coverage includes 12-hour shifts on the Birthing Pavilion and 8-hour shifts in our hospital based clinic and 2 outreach clinics. Our midwife service includes 13 midwives, and we work within the DHMC OBGYN department that has a large OBGYN generalist service and a maternal-fetal medicine service. In addition, we have a subdivision of urogynecology and GYN oncology. The hospital does about 1700 births each year, and the midwifery service attends about one-third of the births. We provide full in-house 24-hour service for our panel of patients. The midwives are an integral part of this academic medical center, and we provide education for midwifery students, residents, and medical students. We are committed to evidence-based care, and we are working to increase the footprint for midwifery-based research. Since 1983 the Midwives of DHMC have been providing high-quality, safe, full-scope midwifery care with excellent outcomes to the families in our community. During pregnancy and birth, we are committed to using our knowledge of the body’s normal processes to help achieve an empowered and joyful birth. We utilize evidence-based practices to provide skillful, low-intervention, compassionate care within an academic tertiary care setting. We are committed to teaching the next generation of maternity care providers the ways to optimally support the normal, physiologic process of labor and birth. The midwifery team at DHMC is committed to supporting each individual patient we care for on their wellness journey. Our Department and Chair are incredibly supportive of the Midwife Division and committed to serving the needs of our providers as well as the patients that we serve. Our community has a diverse patient population, and we have a robust team set up to work with patients struggling with the various social determinants of health. We have an engaged group of midwives invested and committed to optimal patient outcomes, and we are looking to add an experienced midwife with excellent clinical skills to be a part of our strong team. Dartmouth Health is highly dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive group of faculty, staff and trainees to meet the vast needs of our community and patient populations. We are especially interested in applicants who are able to work effectively with and care for individuals from all backgrounds, including but not limited to: racial and ethnic minorities, women, individuals who identify with LGBTQ+ communities, veterans, individuals with disabilities and/or individuals from lower income backgrounds. We invite applicants to state in their cover letter how their research, service, teaching, and/or life experiences prepare them to advance Dartmouth Health’s commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion. What Dartmouth Health has to offer: Inclusive and collegial environment and referrals Established patient base Competitive compensation, benefits, and relocation Educational loan repayment program Dedicated CME time and funds What New England has to offer: Unmatched quality of life Four seasons of an outdoor lifestyle Access to major cities and international airports Proximity to mountains and hiking trails Driving distance to the seacoast/ocean The Dartmouth Health system stretches over New Hampshire and Vermont and offers the quintessential New England experience.
