Description

General Requirements Submit an application and successfully complete the screening/interview process. Successfully pass a criminal background and sex-offender registry check. Obtain necessary training/certifications prior to arriving at camp as required by desired position (lifeguard, CHA, WFA/WFR, RN, EMT, etc.). Work required dates, including pre-camp staff training (listed below). All staff must be at least 18 years old. Support Positions Support Staff: The majority of our staff are counselors. Counselors live in cabins, teach activities, and help lead camp-wide programs. Counselors serve in “loco parentis” (in place of parents) while at camp. In cabins, this means you make sure your campers take showers, brush their teeth, keep their belongings together, clean up after themselves, and get along with cabin mates. During activities, this means you teach them new skills, help them improve current skills, teach them to be good team players, and ensure that they stay safe. You must make sure your campers are eating enough food, drinking enough water, and getting enough sleep to stay healthy at camp. Counselors are hired for their experience, enjoyment of, and teaching abilities in one of the following areas: Media Specialist: Specialist will capture the daily life at camp with photography and making images available to parents through the online parent portal twice a day, and through social media. Images will also be used for marketing and promotional purposes. In addition to photography, specialist will create slideshows and social media posts. Summer Camp Media Specialists participate in a week-long staff training prior to campers’ arrival, establish a rapport with campers and parents, serve as an instructor for the Creative Arts department, as a role model for campers, and as a substitute cabin leader. Housekeeping Support: Works with our year-round housekeeping team to help keep camp a clean and beautiful place to be. Will be responsible for camper & staff laundry, cleaning of public spaces, helping keep camp in orderly manner, and other housekeeping duties as needed. This is an live on-site position but direct camper supervision is not required. Kitchen Support: Join our year-round culinary team this summer and get experience with food preparation and safety in a summer camp environment you can’t find in any “normal” kitchen. You will help provide our campers and staff with the delicious nutrition they need to fuel them for a fun day at camp. This is an live on-site position but direct camper supervision is not required. . Facilities Support: Works with our year-round maintenance and facilities team to help keep camp a clean and beautiful place to be. Will be responsible for general landscaping, refillng water stations around camp, supporting with ongoing projects on camp, helping keep camp in orderly manner, and other facility duties as needed. This position does not live on site and direct camper supervision is not required Employment Dates: Support Staff: June 7th – August 15th, 2026 Part Time hours available for individuals who do not live on site during the season Employee Compensation Camp Horizons’ pay structure is based on a flat Summer Contract Rate. This rate is calculated according to the previously agreed upon number of weeks a staff member is expected to work at camp, along with any relevant active certifications the staff member holds. This rate is broken down and paid via bi-weekly stipends with the remaining balance of the contract being paid upon completion of the of summer or previously agreed upon end date. Pay for certifications or other additional payments are added to and paid out in the end of summer balance. Base Salaries 1st year General Counselors/Support Staff $2850 Base Summer Contract Rate (based on 10 weeks) Facilities/Housekeeping Hourly options for Part-Time staff Employment Dates: June 7th – August 15th, 2026 Staff work 6 days per week with 2 hours off each day and 24 hours off each week. Part-time hours available for individuals not living on site during the summer.
