Description
Work with Surgical Offices in scheduling all surgeries and necessary services/procedures. Pre-admits surgeries and obtains financial information from the scheduling offices. Ensures each case is registered in PICIS OR scheduling system and SMS in an immediate fashion.
Responsibilities
UNIT LEADERSHIP - Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the CCMC STANDARDS. Continually monitors the schedule for changes, and updates and notifies all persons involved. Accurately accesses resource needs of case requirements and places case in appropriate room. Assists in maintenance of block schedule allocation.
MULTI-DISCIPLINARY COLLABORATION - When booking a case with multiple doctors, assures primary office has notified secondary office with booking time and date. Sends out surgical confirmations to all offices 5 days out. Coordinates booking and schedule with equipment needs for each case. Arranges any equipment if needed (e.g. spinal cord monitoring service, PICU). Obtains pre-certification/authorization from offices.
DOCUMENTATION - Initiates surgical booking in PICIS OR manager system followed by pre-admit process in SMS. Accurately and efficiently transcribes info from the OR Booking Sheets to PICIS and SMS. Immediately upon receipt, reconciles supply changes under the PICIS OR system.
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT - Maintains 30 day out status for all booking/ pre-admit of each case. Complies with Red Rule to assure correct patient is booked in both systems.
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience in surgical booking in hospital setting preferred. Experience in project oriented positions preferred.
Understanding of medical terminology preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent communication/ Interpersonal skills and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a group.
Proficient computer skills.
Problem solver.
