We&rsquo;re hiring an Assistant Operations Manager to support our auto shredder facility in Waterloo, IA. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for those with experience in heavy equipment, industrial operations, or scrap/recycling environments. &nbsp;<span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">This position is designed to support our long-term talent strategy by building regional bench strength and offering continued growth opportunities. While a willingness to relocate in the future is preferred, we are open to strong candidates who are motivated to develop, take on more responsibility, and pursue broader opportunities down the road.</span></p><p><strong><span style=\"color: rgb(44, 130, 201);\">Key Responsibilities:</span></strong></p><ul><li>Support daily facility operations and assist the Facility Manager with compliance, safety, and production goals.</li><li>Analyze operational data to resolve quality or production issues.</li><li>Lead and develop training programs for operational staff.</li><li>Oversee monthly operational budgets and help manage equipment/parts inventory.</li><li>Serve as backup to Facility Manager when needed.</li><li>Ensure product standards meet steel mill requirements and customer expectations.</li><li>Engage with commercial and peddler customers to support business growth.</li></ul><p><strong><span style=\"color: rgb(44, 130, 201);\">Qualifications:</span></strong></p><ul><li>Previous experience working in metal recycling including Non Ferrous, preferred.&nbsp;</li><li>3&ndash;5 years of supervisory experience in industrial, recycling, or heavy equipment environments.</li><li>High school diploma or GED required; Associate&rsquo;s or Bachelor&rsquo;s degree preferred.</li><li>Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems is a plus.</li><li>Strong communication and leadership skills; willingness to work outdoors in all weather.</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.</li><li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license required.</li><li>Preferred Experience: Background in non-ferrous (NF) and ferrous metals, scrap, shredders, supervisory or leadership roles, or operations/team lead/manager positions &nbsp;</li><li>Ability to relocate in the future, strongly preferred</li></ul><p><strong><span style=\"color: rgb(44, 130, 201);\">What We Offer:</span></strong></p><ul><li>Relocation assistance available.</li><li>Medical, Dental &amp; Vision Insurance.</li><li>401(k) with company match.</li><li>HSA with company match.</li><li>Company-paid disability coverage.</li><li>Paid Time Off starting in year one.</li></ul><p><strong><span style=\"color: rgb(44, 130, 201);\">About Alter Trading:</span></strong></p><p>With 75+ locations across the Midwest and South, Alter Trading Corporation is one of the largest privately held metal recycling companies in the U.S. We&rsquo;re committed to safety, sustainability, and our people.
