    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Department of Surgery at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University is seeking an outstanding Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the team.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for overseeing and assisting with the day-to-day patient care including but not limited to taking vitals, administering meds/treatments, assisting physicians, doing wound care, patient education, documentation, coordinating care, focusing on comfort and supporting quality initiatives, in a fast-paced office. LPN will also assist with training new staff and a point of contact for medical assistants.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Triage incoming patients by obtaining vital signs, following standing triage orders, reconcile medication list, reconcile allergies, make sure immunizations are up to date and prepare patients for the visit.</li>\n <li>Completes delegated tasks from the current and prior day i.e. patient messages, prescription refills, lab results, referrals, home health requests, medication prior authorizations, patient forms, and physician follow-up. All tasks must be reviewed, addressed, and marked appropriately before the closure of each business day.</li>\n <li>Assist physicians with examinations, minor surgeries, diagnostic procedures and treatments. Provide basic patient care and education as directed by provider and standing orders.</li>\n <li>Coordinates services with specialists i.e. radiation oncology, pulmonary, endocrinology, nutritional counselling, nephrology, dermatology or social services consultation. Documents all correspondence and interventions in EPIC.</li>\n <li>Provides patient education and information as instructed by providers and as outlined in the Department’s clinic protocols.</li>\n <li>Sterilizes equipment and supplies.</li>\n <li>Filling, faxing and copying as requested.</li>\n <li>Prepare correspondence/forms/letters etc. as requested by patients and faculty</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Minimum Qualifications and Skills:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Licensed in Virginia or hold a valid multistate compact license issued by applicant's primary state of residence.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Preferred Qualifications:</p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Previous clinical experience preferred in med-surg, surgery, plastic and/or oncology.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Location : Location</h2>US-VA-Norfolk",
