    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Gymnastics Coach is responsible for the delivery of quality gymnastics classes, regular communication with parents, and maintaining a safe environment while incorporating the YMCA’s Mission and Core Values. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This seasonal position supports seasonal gymnastics camps over Summer, Winter and Spring primarily Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am-3pm with additional opportunities coaching regular gymnastics classes and weekend birthday parties. Coaches will lead and assist with age-appropriate instruction, including foundational gymnastics skills, games, and themed camp activities, while maintaining a safe, energetic, and structured environment. Coaches are expected to actively engage participants, support skill development, ensure proper equipment use, and contribute to a fun, high-quality experience for all families.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>For information on Y Employee Perks, click on this link: Employee Benefits | YMCA of San Diego County (ymcasd.org)</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Schedule</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Location: Toby Wells YMCA</li>\n <li>This is a seasonal position ending on 8/31/2026</li>\n <li>Available hours:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Mondays - Fridays: 9:30 am - 12 pm, 12 pm - 3 pm</li>\n   <li>Birthday party hours: Saturdays 1 pm - 4 pm, and Sundays 9:30 am - 2 pm</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Teach assigned classes, following all lesson plans and rotation schedule, including the rules and procedures of class and scheduling </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Prepare creative and attractive lesson plans and session outlines prior to each class </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Complete progression chart for each participant in the class and advance participants from one level to next through outlined evaluation procedures </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintain a basic knowledge of equipment use and safety checks </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Keep equipment in good condition by returning equipment to storage area at end of class and notifying supervisor when equipment needs to be repaired </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Stay informed about the program specifics such as session dates, prices, classes, days, and times </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Work with the program director to ensure all participants are registered and in the correct class </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintain accurate records of class attendance </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Distribute certificates of achievement and program evaluations to class participants </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintain quality and safety in all classes, including an instructor to participant ratio of 1:8 </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Identify, train, and develop leaders within the group of participants (class assistants) </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Show enthusiasm, leadership, fairness, and fun through coaching style </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Communicate with parents regarding program evaluations and participant progress </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Immediately notify supervisor regarding participants or parent incidents </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Attend training events and instructor clinics when made available </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Encourage positive social skills and appropriate behavior; lead by example </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>The physical ability to safely spot, lead, demonstrate, and interact in group activities </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum of 16 years of age or older</li>\n <li>If actively enrolled in high school, a valid school district Work Permit is required</li>\n <li>18 years of age or older, licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications</li>\n <li>Previous experience working with children between ages 3-14 years old preferred </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Previous gymnastics coaching experience a plus </li>\n <li>CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:\n  <ul>\n   <li>American Red Cross</li>\n   <li>American Heart Association</li>\n   <li>American Safety & Health Institute </li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act. You do not need to disclose your criminal history or participate in a background check until a conditional job offer is made to you.
