The School Nurse is responsible for providing health services that assist each student in achieving and/or maintaining optimal health through education, examinations, and guidance, as well as providing skilled nursing care and first aid to students, faculty, and staff. All employees are expected to support the school’s mission, model the school’s core virtues, and adhere to the principles of classical education. The School Nurse is a 10-month employee who reports to the Director of Operations.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:</strong></p><ul><li>Develop and manage individualized healthcare plans for students.</li><li>Oversee medication administration and healthcare procedures.</li><li>Provide emergency care and manage disabilities, chronic diseases, and acute conditions.</li><li>Maintain health records and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.</li><li>Conduct health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing, scoliosis, &nbsp;dental, and nutrition) and coordinate referrals to healthcare providers.</li><li>Provide health education (e.g., CPR training) and consult with school staff and committees on accommodations and safety needs.</li><li>Support the development of safety and emergency plans.</li><li>Manage communicable diseases, assess safety risks, and promote preventive health measures.</li><li>Serve as a liaison between families, school staff, and community healthcare providers.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualified candidates will meet the following requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in nursing required&nbsp;</li><li>Three or more years of experience in the pediatric field or as a school nurse preferred</li><li>Registered Nurse certification required</li><li>CPR and First Aid certification required</li></ul><p>Strong candidates will support the school’s Mission: to develop students in mind and character through a classical, content-rich curriculum that emphasizes the principles of virtuous living, traditional learning, and civic responsibility. &nbsp;They will have enthusiasm for the Vision: to be a nationally regarded K-12 classical school and serve as a local and national incubator for growth and promotion of classical education.
