Come enjoy our 26 acres of land for a one-of-a-kind summer experience. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The <strong>Camp Counselor</strong> will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of their specific group at the <strong>YMCA of Southern Maine</strong>. The incumbent will possess experience and knowledge in the areas of camp counseling, administration skills, youth leadership skills and development, public relations, and experience working with children 5-14 years old. </p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>School Break Dates:</strong> February 16th-20th and April 20th-24th.</li>\n <li><strong>Summer Dates:</strong> June 8th-August 21st.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Location: 3 Pomerleau Street Biddeford, Maine 04005 United States </strong></p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to a large-group program which is consistent with the YMCA mission, goals, and objectives of the YMCA of Southern Maine.</li>\n <li>Conduct a safe, quality, and age-appropriate large group camp experience for your group.</li>\n <li>Be responsible during staff training and staff meetings to become completely familiar with the camping goals, programs, camp personnel policies, safety procedures, skills and protocol necessary to accomplish the specified position.</li>\n <li>Plan, organize, and implement a quality program for all campers.</li>\n <li>Participate in general planning and staff meetings.</li>\n <li>Be responsible for the health and safety of each camper.</li>\n <li>Be a positive adult role model for campers through good work habits, enthusiasm, good attitude, adherence to camp personnel policies, and safety rules.</li>\n <li>Assist each camper in adjusting to the camp environment and allow him/her to grow in individual achievements and peer group interactions.</li>\n <li>Assist in camp assemblies, family nights, all-camp activities, overnights, and special events as assigned by the Camp Coordinator.</li>\n <li>Keep group & programs areas safe, clean, and orderly.</li>\n <li>Complete session evaluations and season evaluations as requested by the Camp Director.</li>\n <li>Commit and fulfill all duties stated and any other duty as assigned by the Camp Director.</li>\n <li>Maintain accurate daily attendance records of campers and immediately report all absences to the Camp Director.</li>\n <li>Immediately report all behavioral problems to the Camp Director. Document all incidents and communicate with Camp Director so they can contact families.</li>\n <li>Is an advocate to the Y by promoting our cause. Assists with the annual campaign by increasing awareness about the campaign within the Y community. </li>\n <li>Adheres to all Y Brand guidelines and receives prior approval for use and creation of any Y related social medic from the Marketing department.</li>\n <li>Learn and actively utilize UKG Employee Portal on a consistent basis. </li>\n <li>Other duties as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum age of 16 years.</li>\n <li>Copy of necessary certifications and/or training certificates.</li>\n <li>Previous Junior Counselor or equivalent experience.</li>\n <li>Experience, knowledge, and ability to teach, and supervise campers in a variety of camp program activities.</li>\n <li>First Aid & CPR Certification.</li>\n <li>A Criminal Background check is required, including fingerprinting through the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), prior to hire.
