City of Painesville
Electrical Distribution Supervisor
The City of Painesville is seeking applicants for the position of Electric Distribution Supervisor. This position involves technical and supervisory work in directing the operation, maintenance, and construction activities of the municipal electrical distribution system. Work involves planning, directing, and supervising electrical distribution operations and establishing appropriate procedures and methods conducive to efficient and effective administration. Duties include inspecting completed contractual work prior to recommending final acceptance. Work requires the exercise of considerable independence of judgment and initiative within established policies subject to review by the electric superintendent.
This position requires possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent, as well as thorough experience in all phases of electric distribution construction and maintenance work, including supervisory experience. A different combination of education and experience may be acceptable if deemed equivalent. Applicants must have knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of an overhead and underground electrical power distribution system; municipal electric distribution systems; the occupational hazards connected with overhead and underground line construction and maintenance and of necessary safety precautions; electrical engineering as applied to electric distribution systems; modern office procedures and processes; and strong computer skills (including but not limited to Microsoft Office & Web based apps). Applicants should also have the ability to plan, organize, and schedule administrative and technical work; supervise subordinate personnel; read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction plans; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, city officials, and the general public.
