Network Engineer will monitor equipment, update configurations, and repair equipment as necessary.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Work Location:</strong> Washington, DC </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Work Arrangement:</strong> Onsite </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Clearance: </strong> Must have an active Secret clearance</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><em>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:</em> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure </li>\n <li>Maintain documentation of network architecture and configurations</li>\n <li>Extract network configuration reports as needed</li>\n <li>Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues proactively</li>\n <li>Manage and maintain firewall platforms (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/Firepower), including rule base administration, NAT policy updates, and object/group management</li>\n <li>Implement and support firewall change management processes, including risk/impact assessment, maintenance windows, validation testing, and rollback planning</li>\n <li>Monitor firewall health, throughput, and logs; investigate alerts and coordinate incident response activities</li>\n <li>Ensure firewall configurations align with security baselines and compliance requirements, support periodic access reviews, audits, and vulnerability remediation</li>\n <li>Support firewall security services (e.g., IPS/IDS, URL filtering, application control) and tune policies to reduce false positives while maintaining protection</li>\n <li>Assist with performing system upgrades and patches</li>\n <li>Provide escalation technical support and incident resolution to include field operations support</li>\n <li>Assist in planning and executing disaster recovery and back up strategies</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field of study or equivalent relevant experience plus 5 years of experience as a Network Engineer.</strong></li>\n <li><strong>Active Secret Clearance or equivalent</strong>.</li>\n <li>Strong technical expertise in network engineering including firewall management, service desk setup, and multicasting</li>\n <li>Hands-on experience administering next-generation firewalls (NGFW) (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco Firepower/ASA), including policy creation/updates and object/group management</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of firewall rule base design best practices (least privilege, segmentation, documentation/standards) and periodic access/rule reviews</li>\n <li>Proficiency with firewall logging/monitoring and traffic analysis (e.g., syslog, NetFlow)</li>\n <li>Familiarity with firewall hardening, patching, and configuration compliance, including implementing changes through formal change control and supporting audits.</li>\n <li>Strong experience with Palo Alto and Cisco products and tools</li>\n <li>Strong experience with SolarWinds and its modules</li>\n <li>Familiar with various applications, such as Wireshark and Dameware </li>\n <li>Strong problem solving and communication skills</li>\n <li>Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) - Security certification strongly preferred</li>\n <li>Other preferred certifications and training (or similar equivalents):\n  <ul>\n   <li> Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)</li>\n   <li>Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate</li>\n   <li>Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert</li>\n   <li>Microsoft Certifications and Applied Skills</li>\n   <li>Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)</li>\n   <li>Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)</li>\n   <li>CompTIA Network+</li>\n   <li>CompTIA A+</li>\n   <li>Azure Database Administrator Associate</li>\n   <li>Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals </li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> <strong>Benefits:</strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Competitive salary: $120,000.00 - $128,000.00</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Paid Time Off & Holiday Pay </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Medical Insurance </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Dental Insurance </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Vision Insurance </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Disability, Life Insurance, and AD&D </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Flexible Spending Accounts </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Pre-Tax 401K and/or After-Tax Roth IRA (with employer matching contribution) </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Tuition and Technical Training Reimbursement </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Exercise Reimbursement </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Employee Assistance Program </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Collaborative and dynamic work environment </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Physical Demands</strong>: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
