The General Helper will be responsible for executing a wide range of operational and support duties within the manufacturing facility, including equipment operation, material handling, and general labor. This position plays a key role in maintaining productivity, ensuring product quality, and supporting safety and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is located in <strong>Buffalo, NY</strong> and will be fully on-site. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Hourly Pay Range</strong>: $26.75</p>\n<p><strong>Work Schedule</strong>: 6am-4pm, 4pm-2am Monday-Thursday </p>\n<p><strong>Pay Schedule</strong>: Weekly </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>At Wieland, we recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be based upon various factors unique to each individual that may include but are not limited to years of experience, industry knowledge, technical skills, education, qualifications, etc. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>General Helper </strong><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide flexible operational support across the facility by filling in for absent personnel or unassigned roles as needed.</li>\n <li>Perform a variety of production tasks primarily within the lower end of the mill, supporting copper and copper alloy processing operations.</li>\n <li>Operate equipment and perform duties such as Operator, Helper, Inspector, and slitter operator.</li>\n <li>Safely operate mobile and heavy equipment as required.</li>\n <li>Execute physically demanding tasks, including heavy manual labor in a fast-paced industrial environment.</li>\n <li>Load, move, and handle raw materials and byproducts such as gravel, scrap, or metal chips.</li>\n <li>Perform job duties that may require bending, lifting, carrying, climbing, and working in confined spaces or at elevated heights.</li>\n <li>Transition into assigned roles based on operational needs, seniority bidding, or management direction.</li>\n <li>Perform a wide range of bargaining unit job functions to support plant operations and workforce flexibility.</li>\n <li>Monitor product quality and make real-time decisions when necessary to address quality concerns and ensure compliance with specifications.</li>\n <li>Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives aligned with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 standards.</li>\n <li>Contribute to workplace safety and operational excellence by engaging in near-miss reporting and improvement programs.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>General Helper Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Prior experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or heavy production environment preferred.</li>\n <li>Ability to perform a wide range of job functions with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to work in various roles and departments as needed.</li>\n <li>Ability to safely operate industrial equipment, including mobile and heavy machinery.</li>\n <li>Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and address product quality issues.</li>\n <li>Good judgment and decision-making skills, particularly in situations involving safety or production quality.</li>\n <li>Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, bending, climbing, and working in confined spaces or at heights.</li>\n <li>Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, noise, dust, etc.) typical of a mill environment.</li>\n <li>Basic understanding of workplace safety practices and commitment to following all safety policies and procedures.</li>\n <li>Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and adhere to standard operating procedures.</li>\n <li>Strong teamwork skills with the ability to support multiple departments and work collaboratively with others.</li>\n <li>Reliability and dependability, including good attendance and the ability to respond to changing work assignments.</li>\n <li>Willingness to participate in continuous improvement efforts, including safety and environmental programs.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Joining Wieland’s team gives you…</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Benefits</strong> - Including Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life & more!</li>\n <li><strong>Retirement Savings</strong> - 401(k) employee contribution + pension plan.</li>\n <li><strong>Work/Life Balance</strong> - Paid Vacation & Holidays.</li>\n <li><strong>Growth Opportunities</strong> - We have over 9,000+ employees worldwide and 40+ locations in North America alone.
