Lionsgate Academy is a Public Charter School that specializes in educating students with living with Autism or other learning differences.
SPECIAL EDUCATION CASE MANAGER/TEACHER-TRANSITIONS PROGRAM:
POSITION PURPOSE:
To manage student's’ IEP by collaborating with IEP team members, administering evaluations, overseeing that IEP services and instruction are provided effectively, and working directly with students to support their IEP goals. To teach small group classes on functional skills topics (functional academics, functional home living skills, etc.) to support students in achieving their IEP goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Communicate regularly with IEP team members including staff and families, through in person meetings, via email, and by telephone
Schedule student focused meetings through management of an online calendar
Strong computer skills and administration (ex: google programs)
Track and meet timelines for due process dates and organize due process paperwork
Monitor due process documents for accuracy and compliance
Collaborate with teachers, educational assistants/job coaches, community members, related service providers, and families
Provide direct instruction and support towards student IEP goals
Provide direction to educational assistants/Job Coaches on student specific plans and their role in supporting students in different transition settings (classroom, job site, community)
Schedule, plan, and facilitate IEP team meetings and case conferences
Prepare and implement lessons using best practices
Teach courses specific to transition related needs (ex: self advocacy, healthy relationships, community skills, home living skills, consumer education, college exploration)
Collaborate with colleagues in regards to planning instruction and student supports
Participate in AIM extracurricular outings or after school events on an occasional basis
Act as a key team member in the development of programming as it relates to employment, independent living and post-secondary exploration for individuals with disabilities and ages ranging from 18-21
Maintain positive, professional relationships and use appropriate verbal, nonverbal, and written communication with all individuals.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Possession of a valid Minnesota Teaching License in Special Education
Valid driver’s license/ability to transport students via school vehicle (must have 3 or less moving violations in the last three years and no DWI/DUI convictions within the past 5 years).
Ability to operate a computer and the software necessary to complete the required job tasks
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
If not currently or appropriately licensed, must be willing and eligible to apply for and receive an Out of Field Permission or Tier 1 or Tier 2 Teaching License
Previous vocational work with individuals with disabilities
Experience, interest and/or expertise working with students on the autism spectrum, varied learning styles and levels of mastery
Experience in differentiation, using creative teaching techniques from project-based to direct-instruction in developing personalized learning plans for each student.
