    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>Registered Nurse (RN)</strong></p>\n<p>Samaritan Daytop Village is a leading human services organization in New York State serving over 38,000 New Yorkers annually across more than 60 locations through Transitional Housing, Community Based Services, and Residential and Outpatient programs. First Steps Intensive Crisis Stabilization Center (ICSC), operated by Samaritan Daytop Village in Rockland County, is a 24/7 program dually licensed by OMH and OASAS to provide rapid, short-term support for children ages 5+ and adults in mental health or substance use crisis. Our multidisciplinary team utilizes a trauma-informed, harm-reduction framework to stabilize individuals and connect them with long-term care while avoiding unnecessary emergency room visits. </p>\n<p>We are seeking a Registered Nurse to provide skilled nursing care for individuals in acute behavioral health crisis. This role is responsible for conducting medical assessments, monitoring withdrawal symptoms, and administering medications as part of a 24/7 multidisciplinary team. You will collaborate closely with providers to manage patient health while delivering trauma-informed and recovery-oriented care. This position is ideal for an RN who excels in fast-paced environments and is passionate about providing high-quality medical support to people navigating mental health and substance use challenges.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Performs comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission and throughout the client's stay, including vital signs and medical screenings </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Monitors for signs of withdrawal using standardized protocols such as CIWA-Ar and COWS </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Administers prescribed medications, including psychotropics, MOUD, and withdrawal-management medications </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Collaborates with psychiatrists and nurse practitioners on medication orders and reconciliation </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Provides health education to clients and families on medication management, harm reduction, and overdose prevention </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Responds to medical emergencies and monitors clients for signs of medical decompensation or suicidality </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintains accurate and timely medical records in the Electronic Health Record (Avatar), including the MAR and nursing notes </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Participates in multidisciplinary rounds and case conferences to coordinate crisis intervention and safety planning </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Supports infection control and environment-of-care requirements to ensure a safe clinical setting </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Provides clinical direction to LPNs and medical assistants to ensure high-quality patient care </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Follows agency policies and protocols</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Active and unrestricted New York State Registered Professional Nurse license </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred, ideally in behavioral health, emergency departments, or detoxification settings; new graduates with a strong interest in crisis intervention may be considered </li>\n <li>Some experience working with pediatrics ages 5 and up preferred</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Current CPR/BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Working knowledge of psychiatric medications, withdrawal protocols (CIWA, COWS), and MOUD </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies or psychiatric crises </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Proficiency in documenting within Electronic Health Records (Avatar experience preferred) </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Commitment to a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and non-judgmental approach to patient care </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrated empathy and respect when working with individuals and families in acute distress </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p> \n<p><strong>Additional Information </strong></p>\n<p>This is a full-time non-exempt role with an hourly rate of $46.70-$55.37 (annualized at 35 hours a week to $85,000-$100,786) with a full benefits package.
