Schedule: 40 hours per week, weekends required during recreation season.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Performs maintenance, groundskeeping, and basic construction tasks. Operates various tools and equipment. Assigns daily job tasks to seasonal/variable park attendants and full time Park Technician(s). Occasional use of various materials such as herbicides, pesticides, and cleaning supplies. Works with park management to plan projects and priorities for maintenance staff.

Mowers, tractors, power tools, snow plows, trailers, stump grinder, computer, Microsoft Office 365.
INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in the vicinity of floor or wall openings, elevated platforms, and/or runways; ascends and/or descends ladders, stairs, or scaffolds; works in an area in which the means of egress is or can be obstructed; works on and around powered platforms and/or vehicle mounted platforms (e.g., manlifts, fire trucks); is exposed to environmental conditions which may result in injury from fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and/or poorly ventilated work areas; is exposed to possible injury from extremely noisy conditions above 85db (e.g., chainsaws); is exposed to possible injury from hazardous gases, chemicals, flammables, or air contaminants; is exposed to possible injury from hazardous waste; is exposed to possible injury due to unclean or unsanitary conditions; is exposed to possible injury as a result of electrical shock; is exposed to possible injury from explosions; is exposed to possible injury as a result of falling from high places; works in or around crowds; has exposure to potentially vicious animals; has exposure to life threatening situations; has exposure to fire; has exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions; has exposure to hazardous driving conditions; has exposure to shaking objects or surfaces.
Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered medium work.
JOB DESCRIPTION AND WORKER CHARACTERISTICS:
JOB DUTIES in order of importance
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
80% (1)
In coordination with park management, assigns and schedules daily job tasks and oversees the work done by seasonal/variable park attendants and full time Park Technician(s); follows up on and monitors the assignment of these tasks. Performs facility inspections and repairs (e.g., changing furnace filters, light bulbs, cleaning gutters, adjusting doors and door closers); assists with the routine maintenance on equipment (e.g., changing oil and filters, greasing bearings, sharpening and balancing mow blades, properly replacing parts); makes basic repairs to electrical equipment such as replacement or installation of receptacles, switches, breakers and fan motors; makes basic repairs to plumbing systems such as installation or replacement of spigots and valves, routine service to toilets, lavatories, replacement of traps, flush valves, or wax rings; performs restroom and facility maintenance.
Light housekeeping duties may be assigned as part of the facilities inspection process, such as in shower buildings and cabins. This may include, but is not limited to, ensuring guest supplies are stocked, needed repairs are made, and cleaning checklist items are completed.
Makes routine carpentry repairs as needed such as replacement of deck boards, repair of railings, construction of signs, repair of picnic tables. Performs basic painting of structures and equipment. Capable of performing basic construction techniques of rough framing, general roofing, window and door installation or replacement. Performs installation of floor coverings, plastic laminates, and wall coverings.
Performs basic groundskeeping – including tree trimming and felling. Performs grading and seed bed preparation. Calibrates and applies fertilizers and seeds. Applies, handles and stores unrestricted herbicides and pesticides.
May inspect, repair, and maintain water related facilities including, but not limited to, hot tubs, pools, and splash pads if applicable. Chemical balancing and cleaning of water related facilities may be included in the duties.
Performs snow removal activities as needed.
Responds to maintenance/repair/assistance requests from park management for other MWCD staff such as equipment crew, utilities crew, construction crew, etc.

Inspects fire extinguishers monthly; replaces HVAC filters as directed.
Maintains required licensures and certification, if any.
Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable safety standards that pertain to essential functions.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of high school or trade or vocational school (12th school grade) or possession of a GED certificate; two (2) or more years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a driver’s license valid in the State of Ohio and must be insurable by MWCD fleet insurance. A commercial driver’s license is desirable and may be required to operate equipment in certain parks. The following licensure or certification is also desirable and may be required in certain parks: Herbicide/Pesticide, Drinking Water, Wastewater, Certified Pool Operator, Certified Chainsaw Training.
