If you want to contribute to an organization where you matter and where you can make a difference, then search no further. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>The company is an equal opportunity employer.</strong></p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>The <strong>Vice President Underwriting</strong> will play a vital role in developing the strategic direction of the Company, while overseeing the daily operations and functionality of the underwriting department, managing, developing, and implementing sound underwriting and pricing practices.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Key Functions<strong><em> </em></strong>will include but not be limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Participate as a member of the leadership team in the development of strategy and objectives, including critical decisions affecting risk, profitability and growth.</li>\n <li>Responsible for the development, execution and monitoring of all underwriting plans, guidelines, policies and procedures to achieve growth, retention and profitability goals.</li>\n <li>Develop and delegate underwriting authority as appropriate, and monitor the quality, effectiveness, and appropriateness of the use of that authority.</li>\n <li>Provide effective leadership for the underwriting teams, including developing and instituting appropriate training.</li>\n <li>Participate in the Company’s budgeting process and responsible for the underwriting budget, and the development of alternative insurance products, policies and endorsements.</li>\n <li>Monitor and analyze underwriting results, working with actuarial and claims to maximize Company profitability and change underwriting direction as appropriate.</li>\n <li>Assist in managing distribution and in designing and executing the Company’s marketing plan, as well as analyzing agency performance and assisting in appointment and termination decisions.</li>\n <li>Work with the distribution to market casualty insurance products and target and cultivate relationships with current and new production sources.</li>\n <li>Assist in the assessment and implementation of initiatives to improve efficiency and profitability.</li>\n <li>Perform other duties and projects as assigned.</li>\n <li>Maintain strict confidentiality of all aspects of position. </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelors Degree</li>\n <li>CPCU Designation Preferred</li>\n <li>10+ years of related commercial auto (trucking preferred) underwriting experience</li>\n <li>5+ years underwriting management experience</li>\n <li>Expert understanding of casualty insurance market and trends, competitor landscape and legal and regulatory environment</li>\n <li>Demonstrable experience setting strategy and monitoring production and profitability on a regional and/or national level</li>\n <li>25% travel required.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Additional Company Details</h2>We do not accept any unsolicited resumes from external recruiting agencies or firms.
