Description Medical Assistant II- Pediatrics (Certified) Location: 5550 S. East Street, Suite I, Indianapolis, IN 46227 Full-Time | 40 hours/week | Day Shift Requirements Certification required Prior pediatrics experience required Strong clinical skills and confidence in a fast-paced setting Must have completed a hands-on externship in clinical setting Schedule Options Choose the schedule that fits your lifestyle: Option 1: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (30-minute lunch) Option 2: Monday – Friday, 7:45 AM – 4:45 PM (1-hour lunch) Plus: Occasional Saturday overtime opportunities throughout the year About the Role We are looking for a certified, experienced Medical Assistant with a strong pediatrics background to support a high-volume primary care practice. Work closely with a pediatrician as your primary provider Float periodically to support adult providers Be part of a fast-paced, team-driven clinic with high patient volume Team player who can adapt and float when needed Ability to stay organized and keep providers on track What You’ll Do Patient Care (≈80%) Room pediatric patients efficiently Collect vital signs, height, and weight Administer vaccines Perform vision and hearing screenings Complete finger sticks and point-of-care testing This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys being hands-on with patients. Assures completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, assures smooth patient flow, performs general lab work, instructs patients concerning procedures, treatments and needs, and ensures medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and in a timely manner. Performs registration and scheduling activities per organizational and departmental procedures. Maintains EMR files and performs general front office functions as needed. May perform computerized physician order entry, only if directed by assigned physician. Expected to precept current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership. AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required. Current certification in medical assisting required from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC). Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required. Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required. TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred. Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire. Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures. Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers. Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists. Requires basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills.
