Arcetyp LLC is a growing small business that provides a broad range of consulting services to US Federal Government, US Military, and Commercial clients. Services include Management & IT Consulting, Program & Project Management, and Professional & Admin Services.
We accept direct hire candidates only, W2 employee hires. We do not accept 1099 independent consultants. We do not accept staffing firms. We do not accept corp-to-corp (C2C) candidates. We can't sponsor H1B.
Arcetyp LLC is looking for a Labor and Delivery RN to support the Government in Japan. This will be an on-site, in-office position with one position located in Yokosuka, Japan.
POSITION DUTIES:
The Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery) will provide nursing care to routine and high-risk Obstetrical
patients including newborns during the transition period within assigned inpatient unit based on relevant
specialty care standards.
Work Schedule:
Perform approximately 14–17 shifts per month, each lasting 12–16 hours.
Rotating day and night shifts on a quarterly basis.
Required to notify supervisor and charge nurse promptly in case of illness or emergency.
May be required to cover additional shifts due to staffing needs.
Maximum of 16 hours per shift or 84 hours within a two-week period.
Required participation in on-call duties, including:
24-hour call every other week.
Must be able to arrive within 30 minutes if called in.
On-call compensation applies.
Required to work federal holidays and non-duty days as scheduled.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Establish priorities of patient care based on triage, nursing diagnosis, essential patient needs and
outcomes.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team in assessing the effectiveness of existing therapies and
interventions for patients with illnesses, their families and significant others.
Apply understanding and operation of specialty equipment. Maintain a safe patient care
environment. Monitor and troubleshoot equipment assuring appropriate patient response. Provide
intervention when indicated.
Ensure upkeep, perform checks and maintain appropriate logs of medical equipment.
Administer medications and IV therapy employing knowledge of pharmacological agents and
blood/blood components, their indications, routes of administration, expected actions and potential
side effects, as related to specific patient population served. Manage complex central and peripheral
intravenous lines/infusions.
Provide recovery care for post-anesthesia patients following C-Sections, cerclage, tubal ligations, and
spontaneous pregnancy loss.
Serve as a patient advocate and maintain patient’s right to confidentiality. Assist patients, families,
and significant others in identifying limitations.
Provide telephone advice based on clinical knowledge and accepted standards. Assist as needed in
accessing appropriate ambulatory/emergency care for beneficiaries.
Consult and work collaboratively with social work and other ancillary services at the medical center
and in the community to aid patients in maintaining independence, dignity, and quality of life.
Evaluate effectiveness of own performance and clinically direct and evaluate the clinical care provided by health team members.
Contribute to health care system and support clinical environment resulting in quality services and
positive patient outcomes.
Assist management and staff to develop and implement standards of care in keeping with unit and
command’s strategic patient care goals.
Demonstrate clinical expertise and independent practice necessary to function as a resource for
medical and nursing personnel and mentor to staff. Provide clinical consultation and participate in
problem-solving efforts of nursing staff, medical staff and other disciplines.
Conduct and participate in patient bedside rounds with care team, patient care conferences and
discharge planning.
Assess and address the learning needs of patients and families, as well as, cultural and spiritual
needs, individualizing each plan of care to meet patients’ specific needs.
Participate in formal patient education and development of patient education materials.
Monitor patient responses to medications/procedures/treatments and provide timely, accurate, and
concise documentation, manually and/or by use of computer.
Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm,
informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
Assist in the development, application and monitoring of clinical pathways as directed by government
supervisor.
Assist with the development of programs that comply with all regulatory agencies and Joint Commission requirements with a focus on CI, professional practice, and patient care/teaching.
Coordinates patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of high quality, safe
and cost effective care.
Ensures compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established Unit
Operating Instructions (which follow national guidance from AWHONN, American College of
Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Medical
Group Instructions, and Air Force Instructions used in the medical treatment facility. Provides care
within ethical and legal boundaries.
Provides appropriate patient assessment skills.
Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level
utilizing the nursing process as a basis for professional practice.
Sets up, operates, and monitors specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion pumps, PCA
pumps, vital sign machines, electronic fetal monitoring, cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen
analyzers, nebulizers, ultrasound, emergency transport and other unit-specific equipment.
Recognizes adverse signs and symptoms and reacts quickly in emergency situations.
Makes referral appointments and arranges specialty care, as applicable.
Completes orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with unit guidelines.
Serves and participates in committees, functions and other meetings as directed. Provides relevant
and timely information to these groups and assists with decision making and process improvement.
Participates in customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities designed to enhance
health services.
Performs sterile vaginal examinations, speculum examinations, and diagnostic procedures via
electronic fetal monitoring and tocometer.
Prepares patients for surgery, ultrasound, amniocentesis, or other prescribed medical procedures.
Provides critical care and evaluation of patients.
Develops nursing care plans, performs care as outlined in clinical pathways, and standing order sets.
Provides and documents individual and family education.
Prepares sterile supplies, non-sterile supplies, and ensures required equipment is present and ready
for use.
Adjusts equipment as required. Reports all problems to the Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge
(NCOIC) and works with maintenance service technicians to address problems.
Checks the operating parameters of the equipment each time before the equipment is used.
Develops and monitors quality improvement programs with peer reviews, staff education, chart
reviews, and statistics.
Performs telephone consults, triage, and other necessary administrative tasks as required
Maintain knowledge of how to provide nursing care from a multi-disciplinary continuum, from normal
physiological changes to a wide variety of disease processes that may complicate the ante-partum,
intra-partum or postpartum stages of pregnancy, the immediate care of the newborn and have a
varied knowledge in women’s health issues and the physiological changes in the normal life cycle.
Maintain knowledge of the variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired
effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the
pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required.
Maintain knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient’s
condition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care.
Maintain knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data
entry and automated medical records.
Maintain knowledge of effective communication and collaboration with the health care team, both in
oral and written form.
Maintain knowledge of synthesizing data from a variety of sources to make appropriate clinical
decisions.
Patient Care. The general scope of work under this contract includes performing services in the
following patient care areas:
Antepartum
Labor & Delivery
Postpartum
Neonatal via Rooming-In or Nursery
Obstetric Triage
The provider shall prepare all medical documentation to meet or exceed the standards required
under AFI 46-101 Nursing Services and Operations, Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and
Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), applicable Air Force Instructions and the Joint Commission guidelines.
Only approved abbreviations shall be used for documentation of care in the health care record. The
Department of Defense’s electronic medical record systems, AHLTA (outpatient), Composite Health
Care System (CHCS) and Essentris (inpatient), shall be used for all patient encounters.
Maintain a level of productivity comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services.
Adhere to and comply with the Department of the Air Force, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, and
local instructions and notices in effect during the term of the contract.
Practice aseptic techniques as necessary; comply with infection control guidelines to include the
proper handling, storage, and disposal of infectious wastes, and the use of universal precautions to
prevent the spread of infection.
Function with an awareness and application of safety procedures.
Apply an awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and strive to manage situations in a
reduced risk manner.
Exercise awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant others' rights, as identified within the MTF.
Maintain an awareness of responsibility and accountability for own professional practice.
Maintain DoD email account as directed by government supervisor.
Exercise appropriate delegation of tasks and duties in the direction and coordination of health care
team members, patient care, and clinic activities.
Each HCW providing service under this contract or resultant task orders shall undergo an orientation
and shall complete mandatory Air Force, and DoD on-line training as required.
NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Ability to perform a full range of medical services consistent with professional licensure.
Be able to comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, Department of Defense,
Department of the Air Force, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, and MTF instructions and policies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and
Outlook
Be capable of performing a full range of medical services commensurate with the professional license
held.
Fluently and proficiently read, write, speak and understand the English language.
The HCW must be able to provide contract company with proof of being able to fluently and
proficiently read, write, speak and understand the English language if English is not the contractor’s
first language.
Knowledge across antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, neonatal care, and women’s health.
Pharmacological knowledge including dosage calculations and medication management.
Documentation standards consistent with Air Force and Joint Commission requirements.
Proficiency with electronic medical records systems (AHLTA, CHCS, Essentris).
Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum two (2) years of experience as an inpatient labor and delivery nurse required.
Certifications:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN)
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Emergency Clinical Obstetrics (ECO) and STABLE certification required within 30–90 duty days of
arrival
Experience with postpartum and newborn nursery highly recommended.
All relevant experience should be within the last four (4) years.
Experience aligned with Level 1 Labor and Delivery (ACOG maternal care reference level) highly
recommended.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A thorough understanding of the military lifestyle and experience working with military family
members.
Working knowledge of relevant military, state, federal, and local laws and resources.
Highly developed written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
Experience with postpartum and newborn nursery is highly recommended.
Have a work experience for Level 1 Labor and Delivery, American College of Obstetricians and
Gynecologists (ACOG) for reference level of maternal care is highly recommended.

The general scope of work under this contract includes performing services in the<br>following patient care areas:</span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt\">Antepartum</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt\">Labor & Delivery</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt\">Postpartum</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt\">Neonatal via Rooming-In or Nursery</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt\">Obstetric Triage</span></li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt\">The provider shall prepare all medical documentation to meet or exceed the standards required<br>under AFI 46-101 Nursing Services and Operations, Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and<br>Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), applicable Air Force Instructions and the Joint Commission guidelines.<br>Only approved abbreviations shall be used for documentation of care in the health care record. The<br>Department of Defense’s electronic medical record systems, AHLTA (outpatient), Composite Health<br>Care System (CHCS) and Essentris (inpatient), shall be used for all patient encounters.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt\">Maintain a level of productivity comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services.<br>Adhere to and comply with the Department of the Air Force, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, and<br>local instructions and notices in effect during the term of the contract.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt\">Practice aseptic techniques as necessary; comply with infection control guidelines to include the<br>proper handling, storage, and disposal of infectious wastes, and the use of universal precautions to<br>prevent the spread of infection.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt\">Function with an awareness and application of safety procedures.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt\">Apply an awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and strive to manage situations in a<br>reduced risk manner.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to perform a full range of medical services consistent with professional licensure.<br>Be able to comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, Department of Defense,<br>Department of the Air Force, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, and MTF instructions and policies.</li>\n<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and<br>Outlook</li>\n<li>Be capable of performing a full range of medical services commensurate with the professional license<br>held.</li>\n<li>Fluently and proficiently read, write, speak and understand the English language.</li>\n<li>The HCW must be able to provide contract company with proof of being able to fluently and<br>proficiently read, write, speak and understand the English language if English is not the contractor’s<br>first language.</li>\n<li>Knowledge across antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, neonatal care, and women’s health.</li>\n<li>Pharmacological knowledge including dosage calculations and medication management.</li>\n<li>Documentation standards consistent with Air Force and Joint Commission requirements.</li>\n<li>Proficiency with electronic medical records systems (AHLTA, CHCS, Essentris).</li>\n<li>Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum two (2) years of experience as an inpatient labor and delivery nurse required.<br>Certifications:\n<ul>\n<li>Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)</li>\n<li>Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)</li>\n<li>Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN)</li>\n<li>Basic Life Support (BLS)</li>\n<li>Emergency Clinical Obstetrics (ECO) and STABLE certification required within 30–90 duty days of<br>arrival</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>Experience with postpartum and newborn nursery highly recommended.</li>\n<li>All relevant experience should be within the last four (4) years.</li>\n<li>Experience aligned with Level 1 Labor and Delivery (ACOG maternal care reference level) highly<br>recommended.<br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;
