Description

Overview The Supplier Quality Specialist is a member of the Quality Control Department and has responsibility for collaborating with suppliers to ensure consistent production part quality. The incumbent performs root cause analysis, audits production processes, and coordinates countermeasure to ensure quality product Maturity Level Assurance Standards are met. Responsibilities (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.) Conduct periodic onsite supplier product inspections Provide internal and external supplier support for root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions related to supplier corrective action requests Support supplier requests related to program requirements, interface with customer needs and program management activities Perform on-going surveillance of supplier's conformance to Mobis requirement and provide weekly reports to the SQE team Coordinate parts development and implementation and perform engineering activities for assigned projects with suppliers and other departments Conducts supplier’s PPA reviews and approvals and coordinates new program supplier audits Review Failure Mode Affect Analysis (FMEA) for assigned production parts Track and monitor the status of engineering changes for all suppliers Oversees warranty and field claims Other duties as assigned AUTHORITY & SCOPE This role operates within defined corporate policies and procedures and exercises judgment appropriate to its level of responsibility. The position may influence decisions related to functional operations, processes, or recommendations and escalate matters as required Supervisory Responsibilities: No Qualifications (The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.) Required Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field At least three years of supplier quality engineering experience Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to work with 2D and 3D drawings and design tools Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate logical business solutions. Ability to multi-task and to meet project deadlines in support of supplier and engineering activitie Preferred Education & Experience: Previous new plant start-up experience Supplier quality engineering experience in an fast paced automotive manufacturing environment Experience with quality tools and methods such as: VDA-MLA, FMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, SPC, 8D, and 5-Why Experience as a quality auditor, working knowledge of audit procedures Experience in working with customer specific requirements Experience with quality management systems such as: ISO, IATF 16949, DIN EN, ISO9001 and VDA6.1 Experience with brake assembly parts such as: Brake Caliper, Disk, AL Knuckle, and Carrier assemblies Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: None Working Conditions : 70% of time spent in the office and 30% on the production floor 20% travel to suppliers (Domestic and International) This is a contract-to-hire role. This position is in McCalla, AL.
