The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is an integral member of the Special Education Team and a vital resource to the school community. The SLP implements direct speech and language therapy services according to students&rsquo; Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), maintains compliant documentation, and administers student screenings and assessments.</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">This role requires strict adherence to all MA DESE regulations, federal mandates, and district policies. The SLP participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, drafts IEPs, consults with the Intervention Planning Team, and partners closely with faculty and parents.</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">This job description outlines the core duties and responsibilities for the position. It is not meant to be an exhaustive list of all tasks that may be required in this role. The ideal candidate should be flexible and adaptable in meeting the evolving needs of the District.</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Direct Student Services &amp; Case Management</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Provide direct speech and language therapy services across all areas of disorder/delay per student IEPs and 504 Plans.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Conduct speech and language screenings, observations, and initial/reevaluation assessments in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Analyze test results and write comprehensive diagnostic reports.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Formulate measurable, student-specific speech and language goals and benchmarks for IEPs.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Design, develop, and implement student-specific materials and methodologies on an ongoing basis.</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Collaboration &amp; Consultation</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Participate actively in all multidisciplinary team meetings, including initial, annual review, and reevaluation IEP/504 meetings.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Consult with the Intervention Planning Team, classroom teachers, staff, and parents regarding individual student goals and accommodations.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Identify appropriate assistive technology support for students with speech, language, and processing needs; train teaching staff on implementation and ensure equipment is maintained.</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Compliance &amp; Professional Conduct</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Maintain accurate, confidential student records in strict compliance with MA DESE, FERPA, and district guidelines.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Supervise and train Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) as needed.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Model the mission, philosophy, and character virtues of AKFCS.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Maintain and enhance clinical skills by participating in and conducting staff development and continuing education programs.</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Job Requirements &amp; Qualifications</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Massachusetts DESE Licensure Requirements</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">To practice as an SLP in a Massachusetts public charter school, the candidate must meet the following state licensing criteria:</p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">MA DESE Specialist Teacher License: Must hold or be eligible for the Speech, Language, and Hearing Disorders (All Levels) initial or professional license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement: Requirement must be met to satisfy DESE regulations for teaching multilingual learners.</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Additional Required Qualifications</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Education: Master&rsquo;s Degree (M.S. or M.A.) in Speech-Language Pathology.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Professional Licensure: Valid Board of Registration license as a Speech-Language Pathologist from the Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Physical Requirements &amp; Work Environment</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Physical Demands</p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Frequently required to talk, hear, write, and utilize keyboarding skills.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, reach, kneel, and travel easily between classrooms and campus buildings.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Occasional light lifting and/or carrying of instructional materials.</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Environment &amp; Equipment</p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Work Environment: Primarily indoors. Noise level is usually quiet to moderate but can elevate depending on the student task or setting.
