ACE focuses on civic engagement, leadership development, and advocacy for working-class and immigrant communities, while LUCHA organizes low- and moderate-income families, particularly Black and Brown communities, to fight for progressive policy changes and political power in Arizona. Through organizing, policy advocacy, and strategic communications, we’ve played a critical role in shaping Arizona’s political landscape—electing progressive leaders, advancing immigrant rights, securing higher wages, and mobilizing voters to defend democracy. Why You'll Love This Fellowship The Barrio Leader Fellowship (BLF) is a 4-month, full-time, paid program designed to train Arizona’s next generation of power-builders and community-rooted leaders, individuals who are strategic, grounded, and serious about transforming what’s possible for our communities. Our barrios, our neighborhoods are under attack. Families are being torn apart by immigration enforcement, our freedom of speech is under threat, parents are struggling to afford housing, working people are losing access to healthcare, and local public schools are being shut down. Despite these challenges, we remain committed to the vision and values behind The Arizona We Deserve . As a BOF Fellow, you’ll be responsible for organizing a neighborhood team of like-minded individuals who share this vision. Together, these teams, led by directly impacted leaders will develop policy and community-based solutions that move us closer to an Arizona where everyone can live a joyful, abundant, and thriving life. What You’ll Do Build 1 teams with at least 10 core members Host weekly: Team meeting Phonebanks One-One Ones Host one Barrio listening session Host one Barrio Action Bring a Barrio Delegation to the People’s Asamblea Bring Barrio’s issue priorities and solutions to the strategy table to inform the 2026 “Arizona We Deserve Agenda” Maintain an accurate database leaders and supporters involvement and clear next steps Complete the school of Movement Makers training (a six week skills and practice training that includes the fundamentals of organizing) Participate in political education, organizing intensives, and campaign planning sessions. What We’re Looking For: Strong relationship-building skills; comfortable talking to neighbors and community members. Committed to The Arizona We Deserve campaign principles. Monolingual or bilingual (English and/or Spanish); basic written and verbal skills in at least one language required. Solutions-oriented, creative, adaptable, and willing to take risks. Familiarity with organizing tactics like phone banking, canvassing, and tabling. Creative and strategic thinker who builds trust and inspires collective action. Experience mentoring or supporting others into leadership roles. Self-motivated, organized, and accountable to people and outcomes. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. Comfortable using computers and software (e.g., EveryAction) for data entry and digital organizing. Fellowship Details Time Commitment: Full-Time Compensation: Paid bi-weekly at $2000 Growth Opportunity: Strong candidates may be considered for a full-time position within LUCHA’s organizing department after the fellowship concludes, based on performance and organizational needs.
