Description

About The Role This is a C++ backend engineering role on a team building AI-driven power-user applications in the CAD/CAM space. You'll work closely with product engineering to integrate CAM and CAD libraries into our web-product via C++ powered web-services. The ideal candidate is a CAD/CAM industry veteran who knows their way around CAD formats, graphics, and writing modern C++, or an experience backend programmer who has previously worked with C++ and gRPC. If you are a team player who is happy to be the C++ and CAD/CAM subject-matter-expert on a product engineering team, we would love to bring you on board! About The Team We're a team of developers who genuinely love what we do. We're passionate about building great products and obsess over the details that make software feel right. We're also the kind of people who get excited about stepping outside our comfort zones. Whether it's picking up a new technology, diving into an unfamiliar domain, or tackling a gnarly technical challenge, we see those moments as opportunities to grow. If you're the type who lights up when facing a hard problem rather than shying away from it, you'll fit right in. At ReCAM, we are building new, automation-first, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) applications. It’s early stage, which means we ship fast and adapt as we learn from user testing. At the same time, we strive for the kind of technical excellence that enables rapid development. If you enjoy building new and cool software – and the occasional game session – you’ll love it here! Our Ideal Candidate You love working with C++ and are happy to share your knowledge with others You have hands on experience with CAD/CAM – you may have worked with B-rep modeling, NURBS, toolpaths or geometric kernels in the past – and are comfortable being a domain expert and technical resource for non-CAD engineers You’ve either build C++ web services before, or are up for the challenge You care about code-standards and building team-wide practices that elevate code quality and engineering culture You are independent, eager to learn and take ownership, enthusiastic about technology and development You know your stuff, but are not scared to admit knowledge gaps and accept constructive criticism You believe in collaboration and engaging in technical reasoning to establish team-wide software engineering standards You can engage in thoughtful peer review of others' work Required Qualifications Bachelors in CS and 6+ years in industry, or equivalent work experience Professional experience with modern C++ (6-10 years) and fluency with essential C++17/20 features like smart-pointers, const expressions, lambdas, concepts, etc. Familiarity with CMake and C++ package managers like conan/vcpck Strong systems programming fundamentals: memory management, multithreading, performance profiling, debugging, etc. Prior experience leading teams building C++ codebases and maintaining them over time, or alternately, proven experience building open-source C++ libraries with other contributors Working knowledge of common CAD/CAM file formats (STEP, BREP, STL, OBJ, etc.) Prior experience with designing APIs (RPC, REST or GraphQL) and a sense for what constitutes good API design in one or more of these paradigms Familiarity with cloud providers like AWS (preferred), Azure or GCP and containerized deployment solutions like EC2/ECS/EKS or equivalent. Understanding of DevOps/SRE principles like continuous delivery, CI/CD pipelines, deployment environments, IaC, telemetry, observability, capacity planning, etc. Understand proper usage of git and docker/containers Nice-To-Have's Prior experience with geometric kernels like OCCT/OpenCASCADE (preferred), Parasolid, ACIS or similar is highly desirable Prior experience working with G-code, toolpaths or machining simulation will be a major advantage Experience writing and deploying C++ gRPC services in cloud environments Experience with OpenGL/WebGL, three.js and/or 3D rendering in the browser Prior start-up, early-stage or greenfield experience Personal projects/portfolio you would love to share and talk about Interview Process Recruiter connection Hiring manager screen Coderpad/take-home assessment Interview panel (4 rounds): 30 min: Product demo and alignment with product team 45 min: Technical Round 1 - C++/CAD/CAM 15 min: Break 45 min: Technical Round 2 – Backend Engineering 1 hour: System design panel 15 min: Time for candidate questions You'll get a chance to meet the whole team you'd be working with daily.
