In the role, the Counsellor provides direct support to caregivers and families, helping them build skills and access resources that enhance family functioning and promote the well-being of young people. Key responsibilities include crisis intervention, advocacy, skill development, and connecting families to community services. Your adventure begins here – because <span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><em>Opportunity Changes Everything!</em></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Key Duties and Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collects and analyzes client information through interviews, observation, meetings with caregivers and service providers, and standardized tools to assess needs.</li>\n<li>Develops and delivers counselling plans using therapeutic approaches such as family systems, solution-focused, narrative, and group counselling techniques.</li>\n<li>Provides skill-building in areas including parenting, anger management, and self-regulation.</li>\n<li>Provides case management services and consultation to other service providers. Provides information on and refers clients to other community service providers, resources and professionals as required.</li>\n<li>Monitors client progress, provides follow-up, and adjusts plans as needed.</li>\n<li>Evaluates counselling effectiveness, documents progress, and collaborates with therapists, social workers, and other professionals.</li>\n<li>Liaises with and advocates for clients with community agencies and school personnel.</li>\n<li>Maintains related records, statistics, and reports.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor’s degree in a related human or social services field.</li>\n<li>Two (2) years of recent, related experience.</li>\n<li>Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.</li>\n<li>Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle with the appropriate liability insurance</li>\n<li>Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Additional Information:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>This position is open to all applicants.</li>\n<li>Union membership is required</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Hours:  </span>12.5 hours per week</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Rate of Pay: </span>$40.03 per hour</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Closing Date: </span>Open until filled </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>As an equal opportunity employer, BGC Okanagan is committed to the prioritization of equitable and inclusive employment practices.
