    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Director of Radiology is accountable for managing all technical aspects of the Radiology Department in regard to services, programs, and evaluation of such programs.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Manages the department in an efficient manner by planning, organizing, and controlling all activities of the department to obtain maximum results.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Schedules work assignments and coordinates requests for radiologic services to insure adequate coverage of the department at all times.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Supervises and maintains radiologic services in compliance with standards established by the hospital and state, local and federal standards.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Evaluates the quality and appropriateness of services being provided in the department through an on-going program of quality assurance.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Schedules all special procedures in accordance with other standard procedures being performed, performs all isotope examinations and performs general technical duties as required.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Performs all special or difficult examinations in order to obtain satisfactory results. Assists Radiologist with difficult procedures.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Develops and maintains the technical aspect of radiologic safety recommending programming, monitoring, and location of warning devices in carrying out radiation safety.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Makes recommendations for employment, termination, promotion, and disciplinary action regarding department personnel. Evaluates subordinates on a regular basis.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Maintains an up-to-date knowledge in radiology to allow recommendation of new services, products and equipment.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Supervises training and staff development of personnel in the department and assures that employees receive proper orientation.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Makes minor repairs to equipment and assures that equipment is kept in good working order and may recommend equipment modification, new equipment and essential construction</p>\n<p>within the department.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Assures that appropriate and accurate records are prepared on a timely basis.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Prepares departmental budget as required.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Coordinates department purchasing and maintains proper stock level, storage, and utilization of supplies.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Graduate of an AMA approved school of radiologic technology and fulfillment of the requirements of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, B.S. preferred.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>AND</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Four (4) years experience in performing routine and special procedures.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>E. POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must possess the physical ability needed to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally; and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently; and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.</p>",
