Description

Corvid Technologies is an engineering services company that provides aerodynamics and flight dynamics support to a number of defense programs through the application of high-fidelity computational models. Corvid develops and uses its own tools in support of these programs and is integrated with both the program offices and the prime contractors for the systems we support. Corvid is actively seeking highly qualified, self-motivated candidates to support its defense related programs, particularly for autopilot flight control design and implementation in the supersonic and hypersonic flight regimes. Applicants must be US Citizens and be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. New graduates must be able to demonstrate a firm background in guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) practices and familiarity with simulation-based design. Preference will be given to candidates with advanced degrees and a GNC concentration with a focus on optimal control theory. Experienced candidates must have a minimum of 2-5 years of experience and be able to demonstrate the ability to develop GNC solutions for relevant systems. Responsibilities Develop, analyze, and integrate Multiple-Input Multiple-Output autopilot algorithms for flight vehicle stabilization and control Develop and analyze trajectory optimization and guidance methods Develop, test, and maintain autopilot algorithms in Corvid’s six degree of freedom simulation model Support development of guided supersonic and hypersonic flight vehicles Develop and perform test plans for ground testing of GNC algorithms in Corvid’s GNC laboratories Day-to-day informal and formal report generation Support flight testing Technical Requirements Experience with autopilot design and tuning Experience with aircraft and missile guidance algorithms Knowledge of static and dynamic stability and flight dynamics modeling Strong background in fluid dynamics with experience in all Mach regimes (low-subsonic to hypersonic) Experience with C/C++ and Python Understanding of Linux based operating systems Familiarity with embedded and high performance computing environments Familiarity with scripting languages (bash, Matlab) General Requirements US Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (please indicate citizenship in your resume and/or cover letter failure to do so may delay your consideration for the opening) Self-motivated Outstanding time-management and multi-tasking skills Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a team setting Why Corvid: Founded in 2004, we are a group of over 300 engineers and scientists, about 3/4 with master’ degrees or Ph.D.'s, that provide end-to-end solutions including concept development, design and optimization, prototype build, test and manufacture. We leverage the predictive capability of our high-fidelity computational physics solvers, indigenous massively parallel supercomputer system, prototyping plant, and ballistics and mechanics lab to investigate a variety of high-rate physics phenomena. The results are complex engineering solutions for a variety of applications; aircraft, ballistic missile defense, cybersecurity, motorsports, armor development, biological systems, and missile and warhead design and development. These results are achieved with optimal design and cost efficiency due to the predictive capability of Corvid’s tools and our in-house, end-to-end integrated approach, which differentiates Corvid from the market.
