    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><p data-pasted=\"true\"><u><strong>SUMMARY&nbsp;</strong></u></p><p>The College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at Harris-Stowe State University is seeking to launch a new academic program in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies (AgTech) by hiring a qualified instructor to teach courses in ecology, crop science, soil science, agricultural engineering, horticulture, agronomy, organic and/or related courses. The Appointment is for AY2026-27 and starts as soon as January 1,2026. The appointment is eligible for renewal and for progression to tenure status based on funding and performance. <strong>This position is 100% grant funded for a 3-year&nbsp;</strong><strong>period.</strong></p><p><br></p><p data-pasted=\"true\"><strong><u>PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES</u></strong></p><p>&bull; Prepares and delivers lectures, leads discussions, and performs other activities which are related to, and meet, course requirements for relevant AgTech course(s).&nbsp;</p><p>&bull; Maintains course syllabi and provides each student with a written statement of course requirements at the beginning of each semester.</p><p>&bull; Conducts appropriate evaluations of students&rsquo; performances and assigns grades based on those evaluations.</p><p>&bull; Maintains and provides reports and/or records of student grades and attendance according to University requirements.</p><p>&bull; Becomes familiar with, utilizes and/or adheres to institutional and college tools and policies, including the Canvas Learning Management System, attendance, grade-reporting and record-keeping.</p><p>&bull; Attend faculty-specific orientation meetings with the Dean, Chair, and/or with the institution.</p><p>&bull; Contribute to the development of the new chemistry academic program, focused on forensic chemistry.</p><p><br></p><p data-pasted=\"true\"><strong><u>EDUCATION &amp; EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS</u></strong></p><p>The successful candidate must possess a Doctorate or a Master&rsquo;s Degree in AgTech, or a closely related field, from an accredited university. In addition, a minimum of eighteen (18) credit hours of graduate level coursework in AgTech must be related to the area of instruction.</p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS &amp; ABILITIES&nbsp;</u></strong></p><p>&bull; Strong understanding of the pedagogies of University level teaching, particularly for first generation University students.</p><p>&bull; Good Knowledge of principles and theory of teaching field.</p><p>&bull; Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.</p><p>&bull; Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with students and University community.</p><p><br></p><p data-pasted=\"true\"><strong><u>PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS</u></strong></p><p>Able to lift ten pounds.</p><p><br></p><p data-pasted=\"true\"><strong>EOE Statement</strong></p><p>Harris-Stowe State University is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
