East West Bank gives people the confidence to reach further.</p>\n<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Team Lead Underwriter will be responsible for supporting Underwriting Team's daily operations. Theposition requires that the candidate have the ability to diligently make credit decisions, provide cleardirection, resolve conflicts, clearly communicate underwriting decisions and stipulations to sales,processing staff, borrowers and management.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Able to perform the responsibilities of an Underwriter.</li>\n <li>Provide suitable options and recommendations to Loan Processors, Loan Officers and TeamMembers.</li>\n <li>Second review and determine if additional documentation would aid loan decision or providealternative solutions/advices accordingly.</li>\n <li>Stay abreast of current regulations and industry trends that affect compliance and decisionmaking.</li>\n <li>Verify that system input is accurate and that company systems match Automated UnderwritingSystem (AUS), as applicable.</li>\n <li>Use expertise to answer questions and resolve escalated issues from Team Members or otherteams.</li>\n <li>Monitor Team Daily Reports for Team Member and prioritize rush requests</li>\n <li>Review Counteroffers for Team Member</li>\n <li>Review/ Dispute Quality Control findings for Team Member</li>\n <li>Loan Assignment and re-assign loans for Team Member out of office</li>\n <li>Loan Level review and sign off</li>\n <li>Manage and approve Team Vacation</li>\n <li>Provide coaching and guidance to Team Member on all products/loan types including but notlimited to all states specific requirements, Outreach, FNMA, Jumbo, business entity, etc.</li>\n <li>Manage and answer questions for Appraisal review team</li>\n <li>Take on new loan products/types/special projects and/or perform other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or equivalent required; college courses/technical training related toBusiness, Finance/Accounting, Legal, or related field is preferred, along with total recent workexperience that includes ten or more years underwriting conventional loans.</li>\n <li>Expert-level knowledge of overall mortgage lending processes, including underwriting, funding,and loan processing.</li>\n <li>Expert-level knowledge of valid documentation related to the processing consumer mortgageapplications (e.g., tax returns, financial statements and records, verification of income anddeposits, etc.).</li>\n <li>Expert-level knowledge of underwriting and regulatory requirements; detailed knowledge offederal, state, and regulatory requirements/guidelines related to consumer mortgage lending andinternal processes and controls.</li>\n <li>Ability to think critically, including the ability to evaluate facts and data to draw conclusions, anddetermine the downstream impact of decisions and associated risks.</li>\n <li>Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment, strong sense of urgency andresponsiveness.</li>\n <li>Intermediate math skills.</li>\n <li>Strong verbal and written communication skills.</li>\n <li>Strong detail orientation and highly organized.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Applicants must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
