Description
Learning begins in the classroom but there’s no better place to gain real-world experience than with Stantec. Interns are an integral part of our teams, working to solve some of the world's most complex challenges.
As an intern, you’ll work alongside our experienced practitioners and with our clients and communities. This hands-on experience will equip you with practical skills, build your network, and provide opportunities that set you up for success.
The buildings that make up the landscape of our daily lives seem like permanent fixtures, fastened to a time and place. But what if that didn’t have to be true? What if our built environment — where we live, learn, play, and conduct business — carried us forward instead?
Your Opportunity
Your role is to work with guidance and direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineered systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices.

Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity
Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions
May performs Revit tasks for the structural discipline using knowledge of relevant software programs
Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
Basic understanding of Revit, and the use of it as a drafting/design tool
Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others
Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material
Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit
Education and Experience
Pursuing a Bachelors’ degree with a structural emphasis.
Minimum of junior level structural courses complete (structural mechanics, statics, materials, soil mechanics, etc). Structural design course completion encouraged (timber, steel, concrete, etc.).
