    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Gift of Hope is proud to serve as the federally designated not-for-profit organ procurement organization (OPO) that coordinates organ and tissue donation and provides compassionate service to families of donors in the northern three-quarters of Illinois and northwest Indiana.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Since our inception in 1986, we have coordinated donations that have saved the lives of more than 23,000 organ transplant recipients, and improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of tissue transplant recipients. Adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.</li>\n <li>Provide safe and timely emergency and non-emergency ground transportation for organ and tissue recovery departments</li>\n <li>Transport internal and external staff to and from hospitals, airports and/or other facilities</li>\n <li>Transport human organs, blood, and tissue samples</li>\n <li>Deliver clinical supplies and equipment</li>\n <li>Work assigned schedule to provide 24-hour department coverage</li>\n <li>Keep all Gift of Hope vehicles clean and in proper working condition</li>\n <li>Complete and document maintenance checks on delivery vehicles and notify supervisor of any issues</li>\n <li>Interact with internal and external customers in a professional manner</li>\n <li>Communicate and dispatch external partners, as needed</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintain thorough logs to track routes and deliveries</li>\n <li>Use route navigation apps and knowledge of area to complete deliveries on time</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Perform and document safety checks for each vehicle </li>\n <li>Assist with property related duties, as needed, such as:</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Conduct building security and safety tours</li>\n   <li>Monitor facility and equipment alarms</li>\n   <li>Light maintenance of facilities and equipment</li>\n   <li>Restock building supplies</li>\n   <li>Assist with deliveries and trash removal</li>\n   <li>Light landscaping and snow removal</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Other duties as assigned</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education and Training Required </strong></p>\n<p>The following identifies the minimum education and training required to perform the essential functions of the job.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or GED equivalent</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Experience and Skills Required </strong></p>\n<p>The following indicates the minimum skills and experience required to perform the essential functions of the job.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be at least 25 years of age</li>\n <li>Possession of a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record</li>\n <li>Ability to communicate and interact effectively with others</li>\n <li>Ability to learn and perform all transportation, property, and security related duties</li>\n <li>Ability to learn and utilize computer applications necessary for job performance</li>\n <li>Attention to detail</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Physical Demands </strong></p>\n<p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
