Apply today to join our team!</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>As a Nursing Unit Assistant with the General Surgery Team at Sechelt Hospital you will:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Work in a team based environment and perform clerical/receptionist functions in the support of the delivery of client care.</li>\n <li>Place client/family needs above all other concerns.</li>\n <li>Perform a variety of clerical duties such as:\n  <ul>\n   <li>transcribing and processing physicians’ orders</li>\n   <li>communicating with other departments and hospitals to coordinate client appointments and transportation</li>\n   <li>arranging client tests and receiving results</li>\n   <li>receiving visitors and answering the telephone, and prioritizing requests</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Assemble and maintain client charts, arrange for client admissions and discharges.</li>\n <li>Perform timekeeping functions and compile statistics.</li>\n <li>Type and distribute a variety of technical and non-technical reports and other materials utilizing computer systems and software relevant to the job.</li>\n <li>Maintain an inventory of stationery supplies, and ensure filing systems are maintained.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>ABOUT SECHELT, BC </strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Sechelt is located on the traditional territories of the shíshálh (Sechelt) Nation and is approximately 50 km northwest of Vancouver. It is accessible from the mainland by a 40-minute ferry trip between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale, followed by a 25-minute drive along Highway 101, also know as the Sunshine Coast Highway. This charming seaside community is know for its natural beauty and is a popular destination for outdoor activities including sightseeing, boating, diving, camping, and mountain biking. There are also several municipal parks, plenty of eateries, locally owned shops, boutiques and galleries, and a golf course. That is what Sechelt has to offer you!</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>ABOUT SECHELT HOSPITAL</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Sechelt Hospital is an acute care, 46-bed facility located in Sechelt, British Columbia and serves over 30,000+ residents of the Lower Sunshine Coast. Sechelt Hospital provides a full range of services to the community, including Emergency care, Renal program-community dialysis units, Mental Health and Substance Use Services, surgical services, birthing for low-risk pregnancies and imaging services.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education & Experience</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Grade 12, medical terminology and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program plus one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.</li>\n <li>Ability to deal with others effectively.</li>\n <li>Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.</li>\n <li>Ability to keyboard 40 w.p.m.</li>\n <li>Ability to organize work.</li>\n <li>Ability to operate related equipment.</li>\n <li>Ability to utilize a variety of computer software applications.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Closing Statement</h2>\n<p>The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
