Description
Our Vision : To make New York City the global model for inclusive innovation and economic growth, fueled by the City’s diverse people and businesses.
Our Mission : Creating a vibrant, inclusive, and globally competitive economy for all New Yorkers.
Position Overview: The Strategic Analytics (SA) team is a core business support unit within the Business Operations department of NYCEDC’s Asset Management (AM) Division. The SA team is responsible for assembling AM’s ~$400M annual property budget including oversight, reporting, and analytics. SA also leads the department’s digital transformation efforts, requiring expertise in process analysis, stakeholder engagement, project management/delivery, and technical proficiency with software such as Power BI, PowerApps, and programming languages including DAX, HTML, and some VBA.
The AVP of Strategic Analytics supports the VP of Strategic Analytics by leading the day-to-day delivery, reliability, and continuous improvement of the team’s highest-priority analytics and reporting products. This role manages and develops the Strategic Analytics Associate Pool, sets clear expectations for quality and timeliness, and ensures work is executed with professionalism, diligence, curiosity, and respect for stakeholders.
The AVP is responsible for maintaining and enhancing internal reporting and workflow tools built primarily on the Microsoft Power Platform and related technologies. This includes overseeing operational reliability, documentation, QA, change management, and user support, while also supporting new feature development and process improvements. The role requires strong project management, stakeholder engagement, technical proficiency, and people leadership skills, as well as the ability to quickly build business knowledge and contribute to sustainable team operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Own delivery of AM’s budgeting and planning analytics outputs (e.g., property budgets, City capital request, mid-year reforecast, asset/business plans), ensuring accuracy, auditability, and on-time completion for senior management review.
Manage and develop the SA Associate Pool through work planning, frequent feedback, coaching, and professional development; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and proactive problem-solving.
Serve as the VP’s delegate for day-to-day operational leadership, building the knowledge and judgment required to assume broader leadership responsibilities over time.
Act as product owner for key internal reporting and workflow tools, including requirements gathering, backlog prioritization, release planning, testing/QA, end-user support, and feature delivery.
Establish and maintain team standards for documentation, versioning, access controls, data definitions, and recurring QA checks to keep tools reliable, secure, and maintainable. Apply these standards consistently to both ongoing operations and new feature development (design review, testing, release notes, and adoption).
Provide hands-on technical contribution as needed (e.g., Power BI model/report development, DAX measures, Power Apps configuration, automation flows), including maintenance and modernization of existing tools and new feature/product development.
Review Associate and team deliverables for accuracy, usability, and maintainability.
Troubleshoot tool issues and data quality incidents; conduct root-cause analysis and implement preventive controls to reduce recurring problems.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in real estate, finance, asset management, project management, data management and/or related field
Ability to work independently, managing time and integrating feedback with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to lead stakeholder engagement by clarifying objectives, translating business needs into technical requirements, communicating tradeoffs, and providing proactive status updates.
Effective written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Power Platform and/or Power BI in a production environment (e.g., building and maintaining reports/dashboards/apps used by business stakeholders)
NYC residency is required within 180 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in asset and/or property management, digital transformations, or process change management
PMP certification or equivalent demonstrated project delivery discipline (e.g., Agile, Scrum, PRINCE2)
Familiarity with the Microsoft365 Applications including SharePoint, Teams, Power BI, Power Apps, MS Lists, Copilot, MS Planner
Experience with financial modeling software and techniques, particularly in a real estate context
New York City Real Estate or government experience
Salary Range $115,000 — $118,000 USD
