    "description": "<p>GEMTEC is on the move and looking for entrepreneurs just like us to fuel our expansion in Ontario.  Our presence in Ontario is expanding, and we are searching for various roles, including a Geotechnical Engineering New Graduate within our Geotechnical Division in Barrie, ON office.  </p>\n<p><br>We have created a challenging and inviting workplace, where individuals are provided with the opportunity to gain experience and advance their careers without limits. You will be joining a dedicated and collaborative team of Engineers and Scientists focused on Geotechnical, Hydrogeological, Environmental, and Materials related projects.</p>\n<p><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">About US</span></p>\n<p>At GEMTEC, we offer something different. Our size and hands-on management style let us move quickly, embrace new opportunities, and empower our people to shape their own careers—without getting lost in corporate bureaucracy.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">A typical day on the job might look like:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide technical support on a wide variety of geotechnical, materials and environmental projects, including the preparation and supervision of field programs, data collection, data analysis, technical report writing, and proposal preparation.  </li>\n<li>Design and conduct field investigations, including soils/rock drilling and logging, test pit logging, soil and bedrock characterization, monitoring well and other instrument tasks/installation, etc., as well as associated field coordination and sub-contractor coordination.    </li>\n<li>Assisting intermediate and senior staff in performing design and analytical functions on projects involving slope/embankment stability, retaining walls, seepage, drainage, settlement analysis, shallow and deep foundations, dams, contaminated sites, and landfills.  </li>\n<li>Construction inspection and field testing and sampling of soil, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and groundwater.  </li>\n<li>Measuring and recording field data using equipment, such as water quality meters, water level meters, oil/water interface probes, photoionization detectors, data loggers, GPS and survey gear, etc.  </li>\n<li>Producing detailed documentation of field conditions, measurements and observations to aid in the preparation of client deliverables (drawings/site plans, borehole/monitoring well logs, photo logs, written reports, etc.).  </li>\n<li>Assisting in preparation of proposals and technical deliverables (e.g., geotechnical investigations, geotechnical design and analysis, geotechnical inspections, materials testing and construction inspection etc.).</li>\n<li>Various office and field tasks related to geotechnical engineering, materials testing/engineering and environmental engineering.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">The good stuff you get:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Salary range of $55,000 - $70,000 per year</li>\n<li>Full time permanent salaried position </li>\n<li>Employee owned company with future potential to be a shareholder</li>\n<li>Year end profit sharing bonus</li>\n<li>Health and dental benefits</li>\n<li>Matching RRSP up to 5%</li>\n<li>Paid time off (vacation starting at 3 weeks per year and sick days)</li>\n<li>Office year-end closure (paid time off between Christmas and New Years)</li>\n<li>Work/life balance including a 37.5 hour work week and flexible working arrangements</li>\n<li>Growth and development opportunities as we work on a large variety of projects so you can build your skills and experience.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Your qualifications and what you bring:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completion of a recognized bachelor’s degree in Civil/Geotechnical/Geological Engineering from a recognized university.    </li>\n<li>Must be working towards gaining your Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng.)    </li>\n<li>Preference for candidates with 1 – 3 years of relevant professional experience (preferably in consulting); candidates with less years of experience are also encouraged to apply.     </li>\n<li>Have the ability to manage and prioritize several assignments at one time to deliver work on time and on budget.  </li>\n<li>Understanding and demonstrated field experience in soil/bedrock classification, drilling methods, in-situ testing (settlement, compaction, packer testing, vibration monitoring, etc.), soil/rock logging, sampling protocols, monitoring well and instrument installation, considered an asset.   </li>\n<li>Familiarity with software packages specific to geotechnical analysis (i.e., borehole logging, analytical software such as Rocscience®, GeoStudio®, etc.) would be an asset.   </li>\n<li>Ability and interest to undertake extensive fieldwork, in a range of weather conditions.</li>\n<li>Ability to work in a dynamic consulting environment that requires flexibility and the willingness to work overtime, as required. </li>\n<li>Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organizational skills</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>In alignment with Ontario’s Employment Standards Act and pay‑transparency requirements, GEMTEC includes the expected compensation range in publicly advertised job postings for roles based in Ontario.
