JOB DESCRIPTION:
Full-time position to work rotating shifts - Evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. Schedules and performs activities in maintaining, installing, constructing, replacing, painting or repairing fixtures, structures and equipment throughout the hospital. Assists with plumbing, HVAC, millwrighting, electrical, carpentry and general mechanic work as required. Other duties as per job fact sheet.
Posted hours does not constitute a guarantee that shifts will not be subject to change .
QUALIFICATIONS :
Grade 12 education or equivalent required.
Post Secondary technical education preferred.
Minimum three (3) to five (5) years current full time experience in commercial / industrial construction and/or maintenance environment preferred.
3-5 years current experience preferred in the following areas:
Wall construction
Drywalling
Taping
Rough-in plumbing
Electrical
Flooring repairs in concrete, epoxy, VCT and sheet vinyl experience preferred.
Additional experience and/or qualifications in welding, metal fabricating, furniture/cabinet making preferred.
Minimum 5 years recent experience in commercial painting and knowledge of paint selection, equipment, application and procedure methods preferred.
The ability to assess mechanical malfunctions and enact solutions independently
Must be able to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods of time
Excellent hand-eye coordination to ensure safe handling of all equipment
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work assignments
Effective communication and planning skills
Demonstrated Team Player
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
